Beginner here and this was the first project i took on. I made this top by reading the captions at the parts where the audio was cut off while also cross referencing with the written pattern on the website. No issues for the body, however i do recommend that for those who never made a crochet cup before go and watch a tutorial for that, then come back here for the laced edges. Cup tutorials also will teach you how to properly size the cup so I find that helped alot cuz 11 chains were way too many for my size. For a size small (maybe xtra small?) i used under 100g of 8ply milk yarn for the whole project. Followed the tutorial's measurements exactly (86 chains for the body and 11 chains for the cups) but adjusted for the straps. I did 150 chains for each neck strap (folded in half would be the length of 75 chains which was enough for me to tie comfortably). For the back i decided to do one long chain of 250 and laced it (crisscross weaving in the chain on the holes of the body piece), I'd say you'd still get away with 200 chains depending on the size of your waist. For the front tie, i made a chain of 100 and attached tassles on the ends. Do note that leaving a gap of 3-ish stitches between the cups might help if your chest is smaller (instead of sewing them right next to each other). Overall this was a great first project and I hope anyone who wants to make it doesnt get discouraged from how intricate the finished design looks. I also hope this helps anyone facing issues with the tutorial. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. :)

Thanks for the pattern. Please note the cups and lace bottom are crocheted with two strands and the edging around cups and straps are crocheted with one strand. Also, watch other videos for tips on how to make the lace part of the top without sewing. You can chain 10-15 at edge of cup, then slip stitch across the cups, then chain 10-15 again, then SC across.

Okay so I have a question... every time I start this project, my chains are getting shorter and shorter with each step of making the shirt and it’s starting to curl up some... so it doesn’t lay flat. Why is that?

Jatoria Beckham Hi! It might be because you are missing loops along the way, or in the ends of each row. I reccomend counting as you go to ensure that you haven’t missed any stitches. Also another tip for the edges: you can do a chain stitch in the end of every row to make the sides look straight and neat. I’ve been doing these tips for years and it is helpful to me. Good luck with your project :)

I need help! Every time I try to do the cups they end up being an oval basket shape instead of the triangle with a slight curve shape. What am I doing wrong?

Okay now it has the point but it keeps being like a basket instead of a flat cup with a slight curve

Have you managed to figure it out? Only did a few rows but mine seems pretty oval shape as well. Wonder if that is how it's supposed to look like

@@voiceofkat5063 are you chaining 1 at the end before flipping it? If not ,try that because the chain 1 is what keeps it neat and straight at the base

I’m new to crocheting but have learned I prefer using the foundation chain method. If I’m using the foundation chain do I only go up to 85, or do I stick to 86 ch for the main band?

stick to 86 or you'll struggle later on, some rows you skip 1 or 3 chains so if you do 85 it will be uneven.. has to be an even number!
