We have a rather large pine tree in the center of our town that is decorated every year for christmas. This year the decorations will be hats, mitten, gloves and scarfs. After the lighting of the tree all items on it will be donated to a shelter. Im thinking I could whip out several of these hats and scarfs to hang on the tree. I will then buy 50 or so packs of gloves at the dollar store for the tree. What a great gift idea for those that are in need. Thank you for all the videos. You make it so easy for us left hander to understand.

When you are running out of thread and you want to do one last stitch just shove the eye end of needle thru instead of the pointy end. There are also really neat "shuttle" style needles that make using up the last bit of yarn really easy

Thanks for the tutorial! Caron Cakes is on sale at Michaels this week for $6. And today is 20% off on top of the sale. Off to Michaels to stock up! Can't wait to make the hat with a matching scarf. I only buy my yarn when it is on sale. :)

This tutorial says to end rounds with 2 hdc, but when I follow the written pattern I always end up with the last 1 hdc and the correct number of stitches according to the written pattern. I’ll stick to the written pattern. Thanks.

I have found that an "H hook" fits a toddler/little kid and an "I hook" is a big kid/small adult. I would definitely consider a J hook if making for a male.

How can I avoid the travelling seam where you join every round? Is there a way to have invisible joins, apart from crocheting in the spiral rounds? If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate your input. Thank you.
@TheCrochetCrowd8 жыл бұрын
Go in a continuous round and use stitch markers to note everytime you pass it for each round. I usually do that myself.
@brittaei8 жыл бұрын
You can use the chainless starting double crochet, just make it tight so it's as low as possible. It won't be invisible, but far the best I've seen for blending in. Mooglyblog has a good tutorial on it (I have never seen it on Crochet Crowd, sorry if I missed it)-
@melissapritchett39128 жыл бұрын
I am going to try that with my next one. I'm not a fan of the travelling seam. I wish I would have gone with my gut and done that. It just seem to stick out.
@sharonwalia41628 жыл бұрын
Melissa Pritchett It's not a slouchy but the pattern for a chemo hat you will have to look up and most likely will find by typing in chemo hat or beanie has a pattern for a regular beanie that has you put a marker or piece of yarn where your last stitch was in the round that you keep moving as you go and that will give you no seam at all. The only thing is that you will have to move your marker each row. I made a preemie beanie that had had this seam and I thought to myself that if it was my baby I would not want it's delicate head laying on a seam. So I'm going to try to make this hat with my own suggestion and see how it works out. If you do this and it works out nicely would you tell me on here? I will do the same by saving this tutorial so I can get back to it and let you know.

How many slouchies will one ball make?
@cuddlygiraffe7 жыл бұрын
Just finished making this. Used a 5mm/H hook as suggested in the video. It ended up a little small and not enough hanging on the back to be considered slouchy at all. Any ideas why?
@luwandaartrelle42505 жыл бұрын
Use a larger hook and crochet another increase round.
@WINNDIXIE07028 жыл бұрын
Love your tutorials! I have a question though, in your tutorial you always end the round with slip stitching to top of chain 2, but in the written pattern it says to slip stitch to first half double crochet. Does it matter which one you do?
@Fancee768 жыл бұрын
Billie Lake yes, follow the written pattern...doing so you'll have less of a traveling seam and not a big gap where you join the stitches. That's usually why they do not include the first chains in a round as a stitch. The starting chain in each round is only used to have correct height for the half double crochets you're doing in each round.

I'm confused.. If in round 5 you chain 28 and it starts with Ch 2. *2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Shouldn't it end with the 3 -1hdc not 2hdc in same stitch.
@laurakave8448 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem with round 4. It came out ok in round 5. I have no idea where I'm messing up. I tried it quite a few times. I'm going to keep going and see what happens

Mine never ends on the 2 hdc either...and when I look at the pattern I still have the correct number of stitches.

Hi, love the hat, but can't find the written pattern.
@TheCrochetCrowd7 жыл бұрын
In the link in the more information of the video has the links. :)
reading all the comments I decided to crochet one myself. i used a J hook 6mm instead. also I didn't follow the rules and sticking to 6.5 inches. I made it longer. if you have the Caron cakes I decided to make it as long as it got to the 3rd color and did 3 rows (similar to the picture) the hat is quite small so I suggest you use a bigger hook like me or widening it. not good for men.
@lindsayandrews92667 жыл бұрын
