yarn : sea gull 4ply yarn (50g) double strand (2 colors)- 4 skeins of each color
substitute yarn: any medium weight yarn that recommends a 5mm crochet hook
an elastic strand
hook: 5mm, scissors and a measuring tape

I think instead of joining the sides of the top , you should used back and front post on the neck ribbing to reduce the neck side.
