FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What equipment do you use?
Camera: amzn.to/2jkNDl2
Tripod: amzn.to/2w4ReK8
Ring Light: amzn.to/2w4vrC7
-What do you do for a living?

I love your tutorial on the grit stitch. I have been crocheting for over 40 years and I only knew how to do granny squares. I enjoyed learning a new stitch and I am 60 years old. Goes to show, you are never too old to learn something new!! I have some grey yarn I think I will make a scarf with my new knowledge.

This reminds me of a simple one I've found which is like a double moss stitch where you do two single crochets (US) and two chains and repeat, and the next row go around the chain instead of the stitches like in moss stitch. I know it's not the same as this but I have no name for it.

When working the DC you go into the top but only into where you show there is 1 rather than going in with what looks like you have 2 stitches on the hook. I find doing it through where there is 1 it stretches. Is there a reason please? I don’t like the stretchy hole. I hope you understand this. Hugs and loves.. xx

@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 5 жыл бұрын
Happy you're liking the pattern 🙂 If your work is curling then it could be down to tension; you could try going up a hook size to see if this helps at all. Some yarns also curl up more than others - I'm using cotton yarn in the video which tends to be good at laying flat. You may find once your project grows bigger that it starts to lay flat on its own too. 🙂

@bellacococrochet

Grit stitch is worked in multiples of two so to work a bigger or smaller piece you just need to increase or decrease the starting multiple. If you want to work the increases/decreases after a few rows you can work an extra stitch into each end of a row, or work two stitches together to decrease 😊

Hi I'm just wondering about the stitches in your Grit stitch. I thought that the Grit stitch consisted of a double crochet with a treble crochet in the same stitch (UK terms) instead of two double crochets in the same stitch
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 2 жыл бұрын
Crochet stitches can be really confusing at times because often they have different names, such as linen stitch and moss stitch (which are both the same). The stitch you describe sounds to me like seed stitch 😊

I’ve tried this grit stitch and I wanted to make a scarf however I started off loose and then as I get used to the pattern my stitches get tighter and smaller So therefore it has gone from wide to skinny sort of like a mermaid tail and onto pod that I Car make a straight edge to save my life I keep messing up and it’s such a beautiful stitch do you have any suggestions on what I can do to make it work. I would love to make my daughter a baby blanket in this stitch but I need to practice more and get it right before I make my blanket Xxx Thank you in advance Xxx
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 6 жыл бұрын
Lana Deaton that’s strange as usually it happens the other way around. You could try starting off with a smaller hook and then changing to a larger one once you have established a few rows. However, also make sure that you have enough yarn unravelled on your ball so that it’s not pulling as you are working. This can often cause tighter tension. Hope that helps x
@lanadeaton5588
@lanadeaton5588 6 жыл бұрын
Bella Coco thank you for your reply Bella Coco I think I am using a too a big crochet hook especially with the wool Im using. What is the best yarn to use for the grit stitch and size hook? I’m using a 4.0mm hook with this wool that I have and I have no idea what it’s called as it doesn’t have the label on or the thickness which doesn’t help me. But I’m deffinatley going to try again worth better wool and see if it makes a difference and I will loosen the wool also to help stop the tension Xxx

I have a tutorial that shows how to prepare your work for a border here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2GXqHqwd9l_rbs After working a foundation round you can add any decorative edging that you like 😊

I do get a little confused with whether new stitches go into the chain or the space below
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 4 жыл бұрын
If you look down at your stitches from the top you can see that each stitch makes a V shape with two sides - you should be working your new stitches by inserting your hook underneath both sides of the V. Hope that makes it a little clearer 😊

Bella Coco it does you are so kind to reply. I haven’t crocheted for so long. Had a few practice squares and have now made three diamonds for a blanket. Chose the colours of my rugby club for when the season restarts 😀

Just wanted to let you know that I'm not getting any alerts when you put any videos up, from any of your channels. I'm sure you already know but thought I'd mention it.

It sounds like you have skipped some stitches along the way - I would count your stitches across to make sure you're working into them all correctly, remembering to work into the first stitch directly under the chain one 😊

thats not a double thats a single with a chain two a double is when you yarn over BEFORE you go into the stitch then yarn over one so you have three loops yarn over pull through the first two, yarn over pull through the other two

I work in UK terms so a UK double is a US single, it's the same stitch just different terminology :)

UK double crochet is yarn over so you have to hoops then pull through yarn over then pull through two hoops then yarn over pull through the last two hoops. Your are very misleading

Hi Jake, a UK 'double crochet' is the same as a US 'single crochet', so you would insert your hook, yarn over and pull through, then yarn over and pull through two loops 🙂
