It's super cute and easy to make. If you use a chunky yarn, 112 chains is too much. I wanted to make 2 bows to put them at the end of my scarf, the first bow was just way too big though. It's a decoration now. I'll try one half the size

100%! Smaller starting chain and less rows with chunkier yarn. But a big chunky bow as a decoration sounds really nice :)

Is it normal for the yarn to curl up with the half double crochet?

No i dont think soo, not before adding the border at least. Maybe your starting chain is too tight?

You can make shorter base chain and less rows :) but it will look better with less bulky yarn

i thought that 1st stitch you did was just a SC decrease? what makes it a half double?

it is .... i was so conmfused also , you would have to yarn over in the first and second stitch for it to be hd decrease

Sorry it is sc! You can do hdc and it won’t change anything:) I just think that the finished decrease looks more like hdc stitch and it just looks more seamless but just preference

You can just make this one and sew a hair tie on it, I've done a few that hold up well
