A tutorial for how to crochet the waffle stitch which makes a lovely dish cloth or baby blanket. I am working in UK terms with reference to US terms.
*Please note an error: you should be making your first stitch into the third chain from the hook, not the second. This will give you 26 stitches at the end*
**Please note an error: at 3.25 I say 'work a double crochet into the second chain from the hook' I should have actually said work a "treble crochet" **

FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will not be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What equipment do you use?
Camera: amzn.to/2jkNDl2
Tripod: amzn.to/2w4ReK8
Ring Light: amzn.to/2w4vrC7

Bella Coco has been a staple in my crochet journey over the years. The way she repeats yarn over pull through yarn over pull through 2 etc really helps because it becomes a mantra and allows me to continue with the video without having to look at what she’s doing cause I’m repeating yarn over pull through etc x

I do the exact same thing!! 😂 I am continuously mumbling yarn over, insert, yarn over pull through, year over pull through 2 etc... It's like chanting. 😅

Nabanita Mitra yeah exactly, like a mantra! If I take a long break from crocheting I still repeat it to myself! I’m currently crocheting a mini sofa for my cat, complete with blanket and mini pillows I’m so excited! X

My grandma taught me how to crochet a simple continuous circle, and she wanted to teach me more, but I was not very receptive as a young child. Soon after this, she developed Alzheimer's and was unable to teach me. When lockdowns started, I was living in her house, without her, only with her memory. I remember coming to this channel at 1 or 2 in the morning to learn a new stitch and to try to spend some time with her. I've been quite busy the past couple months and haven't had much time to crochet, but I am so glad to have a afternoon today so I can take a deep breath and come back here, where things are a bit slower, and I can crochet a dishcloth rather than going out to buy a sponge. So thank you for this bit of peace and thanks for a connection to my grandma ❤️

I've been crocheting for over 30 years and can't believe I've finally found this delightful pattern! I've seen the waffle before, but couldn't find anyone who knew the pattern, nor could I come across a pattern book with it. Then I forgot about it, and Voila!! Here it is on your site! You have just made my day! My year! LOL!! Thank you so much for your videos! Well done!

Hopefully I will finish MY blanket before someone else asks me to make them one❣️😂

Bella Coco Hello I've followed your directions to start out your 1st dc in the 2nd ch from the hook & I've done it over 3x & I keep ending up with 27 stitches. I also count my chains on my foundation ch 2x & it's always the right amount. Do I need to dc into the 3rd ch in order to get 26? Bc I would skipping 2 chains.

Thank you so much for this video, I am loving the waffle stitch in a baby blanket. And to all the people complaining the pattern is repeating on 3 stitches, the plus 4 is the 2 stitches on the start of the piece you are crocheting and then at the end you have another 2 stitches. So it does work out with no problems.

I'm having a problem with that part. She chained 28 total. I did exactly as she did but then she counts up 26 stitches in foundation and I'm getting 27-28. I've gone on to rows 2 and 3 but then I'm not ending on the same count she does. Where am I messing up?

I find it sooo hard to follow a pattern, as I can never remember how to work all the stitches from memory, but seeing your video really inspired me to make a throw in this stitch. As I have been left a stack of yarn from my late mother, I'm now trying to use it up and till now, I've just been making stripes in the double/treble stitch. Your video was super easy to follow, thank you.

I started with this stitch because it look like fun and I had a lot of left over yarn. I am mixing the colors for a afghan and very happy with the out come. Your tutorial was so easy to understand the direction. Thank you, Holllie

chain in multiples of 3 then add 4. Then dc's starting from second chain from hook! This will leave us with 3 extea stitches from the original multiples of 3. But you say we will have 2 extra stitches from the starting multiples? I see in the comments many others confused re. this.

The reason there are 4 extra stitches: one for the chain skipped at the first turn, one for the waffle pattern first ridge (technically the pattern is a repeat of 3 plus one for the extra ridge that you begin with), and then the two extra stitches that frame the waffle pattern on each side.

Ugh, I counted my second row so many times and ended up removing a stitch so that I had multiples of 3 plus 2. Then find out at the end of the next row that I actually needed that stitch. I hate frogging. 😒

I haven't crocheted in more than 20 years, and just yesterday came back to it - but I only ever learned a SC and DC stitch. This is SO easy and fun, and makes such a cool contrast in the texture! Thank you for one of the best tutorial's I've ever seen. My yarn is a bit too thick (it's a 5) for this type of stitch, but I'm going to make a baby blanket with it and with Baby Yarn it's going to be so pretty! Thank you. Just fantastic.

FRONT-POST, DOUBLE-CROCHET European: front-post, treble-crochet
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 4 жыл бұрын
To make a front post treble you insert your hook from the front, round the back, and to the front again as shown in the video. It's called a front post treble because it pushes the stitch to the front of the work 😊 A back post treble (or double) means inserting your hook from the back, round the front, and to the back again, and pushes the stitch to the back of the work.

this stitch gives a lovely effect and I'm making the back of a cushion cover with it, but I have to say I have never seen anyone do a UK treble like that! all the tutorials I've seen (and how I learned years ago) is YO, through the stitch, pull yarn through (3 loops on hook) YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through the other 2 loops.
