I made this for my public transit Key Card. The magnetic tech kept getting damaged if I put it in my wallet with my debit card, so now I have it in this holder on my key ring and the "tap" mechanism works through the yarn.

Perfect my car key is a card shaped one but the corner where the little hole is supposed to be is broken so it's a little annoying to carry it with no safety, I always wanted a way to just cary it with my other keys

That yarn is so pretty and has so little fuzz! Is that the camera or is it the type? Edit: Nevermind you explained it was cotton and not acrylic!

What size hook are you using?

The written pattern says: 4.5 mm / US 7. I think it sounds a little larger than I would choose, but mayby it is the 8/8 cotton and not the 4/8 cotton I normally use... For that I would use a 3 or 3.5.. I must experiment :)

I checked it out now. The mentioned yarn Lily sugar'n cream, is a weight 4 yarn and the sellers recommend a hook size 5. So it is definitely heavier than thw cotton I normally use. Happy crocheting! :)

Can I say something? The easiest way to make a lanyard is do chains using the T-shirt yarn and join it making a loop in the end to hold the keyring. There are a lot of colors on eBay. Hope I didn't interrupt.

I like to have something to hold my cellphone on a lanyard while walking our dogs. I think this could be adapted to that purpose..I find the cellphone falls out of my pants pocket when I bend down to clean up after the dogs or untangle leashes
