How did you join the last chain on the 1st row of the mesh? Please help

When I got to the last diamond stitch on the first row I chained the 15 then skipped two of the square boxes and single crocheted in the thrid as usual. It should be the box next to the box you started the first diamond stitch in the beginning. I slip stitched to the 8th chain up the chain 15, then chained 15 and single crocheted into the 8th chain of the next chain 15 then repeated that minus the slip stitch. I only slip stitched at the beginning chain 15 of the previous row. I will repeat that each row until I have the rows needed to obtain the length I need. I hope this is not too confusing and it helps.

On the third row of diamond mesh you will not have to slip stitch at the beginning diamond stitch. You will chain 15 at the last diamond stitch and connect it to the last slip stitch of row 2. Which will be chain 8 of that diamond. Repeat for all other rows.
