Hi Julie 🤗 I love you new doll & her gorgeous dress! A wall of dolls would be a dream come true for me too! Your pillow looks very pretty! Wow your pinwheel doily & table runner are looking good! My love for putting doilies on a ring is thanks to you! Your parade of doilies was very much appreciated! It was lovely hanging out with you while I crochet out on my balcony! 🥰🧶🤩

Hi Litsa, thank you so much! I'm so glad I was able to give you some company while you crocheted! I'm glad I inspired you to try out the rings, yours all turned out beautiful 😍 I definitely have enough dolls right now to have a small wall filled up 🤫 If someone had told me 5 years ago I would develop such a love for them again, I wouldn't have believed them 😂 I hope you have a wonderful week! 🤗❤️

Thank you so much, Julie, for telling us all about your doilies and how you started. It was fun to have you answer our questions! Your passion for them really shows when you are talking about them. The patterns are beautiful and they look complicated but I have an inkling to try making one. Thank you again. This was so much fun. 🕸️

You're welcome Janda and thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I felt exactly the same way when I first started and I avoided some designs for a long time and only stuck to the simplest designs. I didn't do the pineapple stitch for a long time because it looked so intimidating, but they really are all easier than you think! You'll have to let me know if you give it a try. Hope you have a wonderful week! 🤗❤️

So nice to take a closer look at all the doilies you've made. They're so pretty and intricate, and I had no idea how many there were! I've watched so many of your videos now, that sometimes I forget about your accent, but I always appreciate it when I do hear it. I love that we all talk differently. 🙂❤

Love the questions and answers segment. Many of us think about the same questions, but don’t ask. I also enjoy the doll dresses you make. They’re so beautiful. You are so right about doilies. It is almost a lost art, now. My grandmother had doilies as did my mother when I was young. But as time passed, I saw fewer and fewer in our home and those of others. Now, I rarely see them. It is an artist type of crochet. I think displayed on rings is like hanging a painting. A beautiful art on our walls for sure.

Thank you Deborah, I always feel so accomplished when I finish one of those dresses! I loved hearing about your history with doilies, I had never seen them in person before or I think I would have made them way before I started. It's definitely something that I'm thankful for finding because it truly does bring me so much joy. I love your take on doilies, it really does feel like works of art to me too! I hope you have a wonderful day 🤗❤️

Hi Julie, you know how i am with accents, i love your accent and your personality, so don’t go changing anything for anybody. I must’ve watched the same person you did, because that accent comment about “everyone else” is the one with the accent sounds familiar and i can’t remember who it was either. Thank you so much for sharing your story on why you started crocheting doilies, i think that’s awesome and a wonderful reason to get started. I see doilies in antique shops from time to time, so ya, i love that you’re keeping the craft alive. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful makes today. It was fun to see.❤

Hi Gayle, thank you for your sweet comment! I definitely won't be changing, I don't think that I can 😂 Yeah, I can't place who that was either, but it made me laugh when they said it! Every now and then I'll see crochet in thrift shops, but it's been a while since I have. I'm glad that I found a love for the older things, I just think about the time and effort it took for them to create such beautiful pieces. It would be a shame to see it never used again! So glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you have a wonderful day! 🤗❤️

You did an amazing job with the doll dress, as always; so pretty! Your “accent” is so darn cute and adds something to watching and listening to your videos (I hope that doesn’t sound weird). (Listening from British Columbia, Canada). Your doilies are just beautiful. Thanks for the fun video.

Hi Julie, Great use of your unfinished blanket. I have done this before with blankets I didn't want to finish. Your doll dress is gorgeous, great job! I don't know if I would have the patience to make one. Your doll is cute, and it is always great to get a good deal. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful doilies. I still haven't finished the one I am working on, hopefully I will get that finished this week.
@ksmomcrochets5 күн бұрын
Hi Michelle, thank you so much! It is a fun way to complete a project. I had done that with squares before, but not a strip. I am sure I'll do that again in the future since I have a habit of leaving blankets unfinished sometimes. The bodice of the doll dress works up so fast, it's definitely the skirt ruffles that take forever. It's kind of like blanket making for me though since it's the same stitch for a long row. The bigger doilies take a while to get finished so I'm sure you'll get back to it eventually! I hope you have a great day and hope to see you soon 🤗❤️

I loved seeing all your doilies. As a woman in her sixties….it thrills me to hear your love of them. You are right it is a lost art. I did buy some size 3thread to try one. All my doilies are size 10 cotton. Would you say you use a couple of balls on your doilies.. I’m going to go through my books this afternoon ❤
@ksmomcrochets4 күн бұрын
Hi Maureen! Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! It really depends on the yardage of the thread you got. I know Aunt Lydia and Red Heart have less yardage than the Curio #3 thread. If it's a very big doily, then you may have to have 2 for the ones with less yardage. There's been a couple that were very large so I had to get into a second ball especially with the first 2 threads I mentioned. The berka shells doily (large blue one) was made with one ball of curio, but the large grey one was with Aunt Lydia's and I used 2 balls. I hope that made sense and helps you! Have a great day! 🤗❤️

I think soooo.....many people especially younger ones think of doilies as being for old people. I thought if I made them as hanging decoration my nieces may like them for their homes.
@ksmomcrochets5 күн бұрын
That's exactly what happened with me Michelle! I made that first one and then my girls and other people in my/their life wanted one too! My sister who doesn't crochet, displays some of my doilies in her house too without the ring ❤️

I love your videos, I have a question where do you get the rings for your doily. I have been crocheting doilies for years. I hope to hear from you soon. Rosie
@ksmomcrochets3 күн бұрын
Thank you Rosie! If you're in the States, they sell some at the dollar tree sometimes called wreath rings in a 3 pack. I have used those before when I can get them. I mainly buy them from Amazon though. If you search on there " metal macrame rings " or " metal wreath rings " they should pop up. You just have to be mindful of the size because they do come in all different diameters. I hope that helps! Have a great day! ❤️ 🤗

I don't have a metal ring. I do have an embroidery hoop. It is 7 inches across. What size should my doily be?
@ksmomcrochets5 күн бұрын
Hmm. I've never put one on an embroidery hoop, but I would think that would work out fine. I think the same rules would apply as a metal ring. You would want your doily to be smaller than your hoop, so maybe 6 inches? I think that is something you would have to play around with and see what size looked best. The good thing is a 6 inch doily would work up pretty quickly depending on the stitches! 🤗
