My grandma taught me when I was 9. Crochet helps so much with my stress and anxiety! I am soooo impressed with you Ms Kayla. What’s the hardest part about crochet? You NEVER said missing fingers which one would think would be the obvious answer. That just goes to show you how this amazing strong woman does not let anything keep her from doing what she loves!! Much love to you!!

I learned a little about crochet as a kid, but life and carpal tunal got in the way. Then right before covid hit I shattered my wrist and had to get it fused. After surgery my therapist told me I needed to find something to do to work the wrist and hand. That was 2 years ago, and I not only started to crochet, but I very recently learned to knit.

I make hats for newborn at my local hospital. They're easy to make, I use various colors, so I never tired of making them. Making them brings me joy. Great for mental health, keeping hands and mind busy.

Sometimes I think a side hobby of mine is collecting supplies 😂. I do love seeing what can be my future projects. I started crocheting in blue birds back in the sixties we made Christmas wreath pins. My mom taught me more stitches and how to knit and embroidery too. I can't sit and just watch TV I have to have a project going or I feel like I'm waisting time

Exactly. Crocheting has helped my mental health immensely. Chronic health conditions and I'm manic depressive. With anxiety. So it is my me time. Plus I love to garden. I don't get out much due to I can't plan to do anything because of my health. You guys hit the nail on the head. Thank you.

Well Kayla I got a book on how tto crochet and it helped me to quit smoking quite a few years ago. It kept my hands busy when setting and I had to quit coffee too because I associated that also with sitting and smoking. The lord took my love of smoking which I had really enjoyed.

I taught myself to crochet, probably 50 years ago. My mother=in=law tried to teach me, and said I'd never learn, well, I had to prove her wrong, long before youtube, I bought a book, been crocheting ever since.

I learned to crochet 2 years ago after watching BagODayCrochet. Now I'm hooked! 🤣 Hardest was my tension. Easiest hmmmm, I didn't find it easy to begin with. After a few months of persevering, I finally got it & attempted one of Mikey's mandala blankets & I succeeded!

I also deal with chronic autoimmune issues (Mixed Connective Tissue Disease) a blood disorder (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and a fresh above-the-knee amputation. I'm only 58. I learned to crochet when I was a little girl. My Meemaw, Mother's Mother, taught me. She also taught me how to sew, cross stitch, and cook. Easiest was making a ⛓️ 😂 Hardset was learning the other stitches. I have to be shown several times of how to do something for it to click. Needing people to be patient with me. I started my channel to teach someone, and they're there for whomever. 😊 I need to get back to it.... Crochet is very beneficial, especially with mental illness. Being bipolar, PTSD anxiety and other things, it's an escape from reality. Get to just focus on the item being made. And then, getting to see the receivers expression from getting the item. Their happiness makes it worth it. My counselor encourages crochet. Yes, I crochet faster when I'm upset, but, make a lot of mistakes.

Faster and tighter. Years ago I made my mom a afghan and it was the zigzag one. I always crochet tight, I tried to do loose and as I got to the end it looked wide to narrow. I gave to my son when mom passed and he gave to his kids and still being used.

I taught myself to crochet when I was around 14? My mom didn't do crafts and at my age only books available. I did teach a left hander to knit having her face me. When I saw my cousin at our uncles funeral, she said that she tells everyone that I taught her to crochet. Everyone knows that they'll get baby blankets and anything crocheted from me. Crochet is my stress reliever. When I had to manage 50 employees for a printing company I would close my office door to do some crocheting. They would ask my friend if it was safe to go in. She'd call my office to see if it was safe. It was better that way or a few employees would be out of a job. Lol I love seeing you two together. My friend of over 52 years lives across the field from me and we do lots of things together. Hugs and love to you 😇🤗🥰

I really agree crochet helps with stress it lets you control something start to finish in a world where we are less and less in control of our own lives and all the uncertainty. Crochet helps me focus on just crochet and that makes part of my day happy and beautiful! Just finished an alpaca sweater and a pair of Kayla's slipper (squishy) socks : ) they are so comfy in boots with all our rain they are lovely!! This was a wonderful video look forward to going to Amanda's channel for #2

Great video! Very encouraging! I really enjoyed listening to you both 😍 I learned to crochet when I was 7 years old. My Mom asked a fellow school teacher to show me how to during our morning breaks. I fell in love with the craft and continued to do it up until my late teens. I always wanted to make a career out of it but didn't see how I could make an solid income from it. Family responsibilities and full time jobs soon took over and crochet went into the background. But now that I am much older and trying to cope with chronic pain and other health conditions I've returned to crochet and it feels so therapeutic.

I learned to crochet because my mom tried to teach me when I was 13 and several other times after that. Always ended in me crying and her yelling. Its helped me so much since I learned Nov 2021, to overcome a nasty dark depression I was in. And I'm so glad I said I was over letting it defeat me. I still cant read a pattern well but that's ok.

Thank you I just learned how to slow the videos. Amanda my next project is dressed with that yellow yarn I got from you. Crochet is my therapy also. It helps keep me calmer, I wish my dogs would leave me alone when I'm upset but nooooo they come lay right on what I am working on. So they are my therapy/emotional support animals. The puppy has separation anxiety when I leave her. I love you both. It's no life without crochet in it

U may or may not find this interesting but I have a possible Suggestion, I learned with Jayda. She has a beginner teaching tutorial on you tube. But your son may not learn the way she would teach but if you find that video, it may give you ideas. The first thing I crocheted was a blanket for my then 5 year old granddaughter. As ur looking through her channel it's a bright green cranny square pic I believe with a light blue. I learned to knit at 10. Between them and COVID I'll bet I bought 5 different learn how books and had another 7 or 8 people try to teach me. I just couldn't get it. 🤪But I was getting where it was too painful to knit anymore and I was bored already by may 2020, so I snooped around on KZbin and found that.❤❤❤ Have fun

You two crochet comedians .... upside down labels, Franken blanket, boobs, etc ...🤣😂 I have been making prayer shawls to give to people with serious illnesses, loss, or just struggling with hard life struggles. 2 Caron Cotton cakes makes a great shawl. Also in past, made single bed size throws for graduating seniors from HS at the church. It was great fun. I do enjoy crochet, got 6 or 7 WIPs and 4 shawls to mail to friends who are struggling. Thanks for the laughs, the commiserating, and sharing. I relate with you about pain and crochet therapy to focus elsewhere .... Retail yarn therapy is nice too. 😉👍 I look forward to yet another coming together of the LA comedy team! 💕

It was such fun watching the two of you! Amanda, I like to crochet for a lot of the same reasons you do-to put a smile on someone else’s face. Kayla, for some reason my hands have gone numb and it made it hard to crochet, but then I watched you-and seeing you figure out how to crochet after losing your pinky made me realize that I could keep going. Thanks so much for this video! I am looking forward to Amanda's. Yes, yarn is very much therapy -- just going to the yarn storage and feeling and seeing the yarn helps me feel better. :) I, too, have chronic health issues -- nothing like Kayla for which I am thankful But, I do understand how it can be from day to day. I do not have a lot of pain for which I am very thankful, but I do get a good bit of nausea and just sheer exhaustion. But, I don't find that I really relax when I crochet. I do love it, and I do enjoy it, though. And, Amanda I don't live to terribly far from you, either. :)
