So I’ve been following this video and learned my head size required a few more stitches than yours so for anyone with big hair and huge eyes shoot for 64 stitches! And I made the eye holes 10 stitches long but put them into the eighth stitch around. This achieved the same look and I love it!

Hi!! I bought your pattern and am working on the gauge swatch currently (trying to get it correct before getting too far into it). I was reading a reply you left on a comment about theirs being too small. You said one thing they could do is make their starting circle another row larger. Does this mean to do row 1 and an extra increase row, and then start on row 2, which is another increase row? Sorry for the long question, just a bit confused atm. Update: That didn’t work for me. Should’ve know that wouldn’t work lol. If you see this or if anyone knows, please lmk!! Thanks so much 🥰
@alexandria_masse Жыл бұрын
Hi Brooke! An easy solution in this situation is adding a 6th row of increases to make the big circle larger before moving on to the rest of the balaclava. You can also add additional rows to the bottom to cover your neck (depending how you like it)

I used Fleece Artist Wonder Woolen with a 4mm hook, it’s in the description:) If yours is smaller I suggest making your starting circle another row larger, or going up a hook size or doubling up your yarn so it’s thicker. if I want to make for someone with a bigger head what adjustments should I make/when (I'm very new to crocheting and get overwhelmed easily)
@valina202 ай бұрын
Hello, I personally adjust the starting points and the rows with increases, and also the length of rows that do not have increases. Obviously the number of crochets for the eyes also changes, you would have to leave more separation crochets. I suggest that the person for whom you are going to knit the balaclava is with you so that you can take measurements :)

I’m a beginner and I’ve looked up a few other balaclava tutorials where the stitch is circled for the top or is started as a rectangle. This method for starting, for whatever reason, whether tightly pulled or looser, my 12 stitches do not look as big as my palm as yours does here. I tried to compromise, by chaining a bit and continued double crocheting, and kept crocheting until it was about palm sized but it ended up looking like a shot glass. I’ve restarted and even put this video (and another) on the slowest speed to make sure I was doing it right. Will the type of yarn make this happen? I’m so confused.
@alexandria_masse Жыл бұрын
Hi! Sounds like your hook and or yarn is too small. Your initial 12 dc circle should be 2 inches across. I would recommend using a thicker yarn :)
