Definetely not a begginers friendly tutorial, but I want to add an update regarding my experience. I've been crocheting this sweater for 3 months now, I'm about to be finished, just need to work on the sleeves. Here are the most important points to whoever want to crochet this right: 1- When working on the starting neck line (the 2 + 2 inches, work it out from the inside, not attaching the yarn from the outside as shown on the video, since it will create a weird looking line at the neck part. 2 - Try to pay attention to what Erin is doing with the neck part, find the center and from there count 5 stiches to the left and 5 to the right (you should have a total 10 stiches on the center of the panel) to ensure your neck will come out with sort of a v look 3- Go to min 14:39 to see Erin's measurements on the sweater, I recommend you to guide yourself on the inches and not the rows as I had so much trouble reaching the correct size for the pannels until I reached that part of the video. 4- When working on the ribbed part of the neck, I recommend you looking on KZbin a tutorial for Front Post Back Post stich, since on the video is not clear what she's doing. Use single crochet to work the front post back post so the neck will come out like hers. Also at the end of each neck row, I'd sugest to end the row with a slip stich to avoid having a side taller than the other side, so end it with a slip stich and start your next row with the stich you ended the last row, for example if you ended on a front post, that will be your starting stich again, and just go switching from front post to back post to get the ribbed neck. 5- Make sure the 32 stiches on the back panel matches your stiches on the front panel, I didn't take this into consideration and when joining both panels you will have to decrease and I will create a bit of a cluster look on the shoulders, so please count your stiches and if they don't match, don't panic you can just decrease when joining the 2 panels together. 6 - For the sleeves following Erin's measurement it will come too tight around the arm, I'd sugest making it longer, at least adding 5 inches more to the suggested length

@@frankiecarter9430 You're more than welcome. Please be aware that you need to gradually increase the sleeves, they are too tight following Erin's measurements, I'm starting to increase at row 14. My sleeve has 108 rows (about 56 centimiters long)

Thank you so much for the explanation. I started this sweater last year when I was a beginner to make the ribbed part of the bottom and left it there as I couldn't go further Now I started again from yesterday and I found out that what I made was totally different from what she made 😂😂. I didn't know about the front post stitch that time. I had to repeat the ribbed part again because I thought she's doing single stitch on the 8th one using only the front. Turned out it's both. I'm still new to crochet so I don't know how to explain people 🤦‍♀️

I wrote the pattern for future reference so here it is: Oversized pullover sweater pattern: Ribbed band: ch 9 R1: sc 8 R2-90: front post stitch (8th stitch will be sc) Front panel: R1: place 90 sc along the ribbed band R2-88: alternate sl st and hdc for entire row Neckline: Count out 10 stitches at the center and place 2 stitch markers R1: work normally until 2 sts from stitch marker, dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1 R2: dec first 2 sts, work row normally R3-8: switch between r1 and r2 R9-16: work normally in stitches alternating sl st and hdc [repeat on other side just backwards] Back panel: Create 2nd ribbing (same as first) R1-94: work same pattern as the front panel before decs Neckline: R1-8: work rows of 32 stitches [repeat on other side of the back panel] Cuffs: Ch 8 R1-36: repeat post stitches Place 36 sc in the ribbed cuff Sleeves: R2: alternate 1 sc and 2 sc in each stitch R3-80: alternate sl st and hdc for entire row [repeat for other sleeve] Sew all pieces together to form sweater Collar: R1: attach yarn at center back, sc around entire neckline R2-7 alternate front post and back post stitches to create ribbing on neckline

I have always made my sweaters with my own made-up pattern but it was really cool to see how other people do it. It is so interesting to see how other people hold their yarn and hook, I do it so differently. Many people ask me to teach them and they struggle with how to hold the yarn, I think I may show them this, maybe it will work better for their hands.

Hi ! I'm about to make this sweater, but I'm wondering about the size, do you have the written pattern for the size, maybe for L, or XL? Thank you 😊

I made this and had to increase the width of the arm panels to give more room in the shoulder area of the sleeves, and ended up decreasing every other row of the neckline to give it more of a mock neck look

right now i have just finished crocheting the front panel. i made it a different size but overall it looks similar! it was also very relaxing to just do the same two stitches again and again. now i am starting to work on the sleeves (i need a little variety, thats why im not making the back panel) and i am afraid they are going to look bad because theyre gonna be too big for me but i will find a way to work around that. the store where i buy my yarn from also only has 4x 150m balls of the colour i need left and i am super worried its not gonna be enough.

so i am making the sleeve right now and about on row 50. i have about 20g of yarn left from the ball i calculated to be used for this sleeve. i am a bit afraid if it will be enough.

This looks great!! If you wanted could you just do single crochets for the whole thing instead of the slip stitch and half double?

Yes definitely! I used two different stitches to give the sweater some texture but it would be simpler and must quicker to just do HDC or DC for the entire sweater!

Hi , I’m not the neck line segment , I feel like the pattern will be thrown off if I crochet on at both ends of the sweater. Should I started at the end like in the tutorial for one side but then yarn on at my marker in the middle at the other side to keep the pattern or will that throw off my neck line look ?? Sorry if this didn’t make sense 10:41

K, maybe I was a bit too ambitious, starting this sweater as a second ever crochet project) But! I'm pretty crafty, so I figured it out pretty fast (you just need a little patience!) It's been two weeks and I'm halfway done, did the front panel and one sleeve. I actually figured out how to do the shoulder part on the front panel, so the pattern doesn't get messed up, I started in the middle and after struggling for a couple of hours I did it! I also struggled a lot with the first row of single crochets after the ribbing, for some reason it was always one loop too much or one too little haha It's coming out great and really neat, I'm just a bit worried that it's not going to fit me (I'm an M to XL in dif types of clothes, but I compared the front panel to a sweater that fits me and it's about the same), BUT if everything goes south I'm going to try out blocking, maybe it'll help. Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm very picky with my style, I don't like a lot of crochet pieces, but I sure as hell like this pattern!
