This is one of the prettiest baskets I have seen! These colors work so well together. :) I enjoyed seeing the versatility of it: pet bed, basket, etc.

Great tutorial; I used gray and cream. I did, however, end up with a HUGE basket that I turned into a large pet bed. It wouldn't create a wall, the circle just kept getting bigger and bigger. I remembered then about a detail in a mini basket I had just made - in order to create the walls, she stopped increasing and then crocheted into just one side of the stitch. It then began to turn up immediately and I had walls. I added four handles (yes, it is that big) and it looks fetching.

Your basket sounds wonderful, so great that you can also use it as a pet bed, yes you do need to stop increasing when you have the base the size you want
Me too! I notice it when I work with my own yarn; and sometimes it's I don't know...comforting....I guess :p

I wish I had found this before I had my not circular blob I just decided to keep doing it to get more familiar with using the crochet hook but not that I have my ovualar shape I'm trying to find how to go up I my basket so can you tell me if it should be able to work with your even thought mine itsnt round and I just kinda did alot of single crichets and even a double crochet twice from boredom
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
it should be round and should be eventually climbing up. if you are working just one stitch in each stitch it should work

Hello Missus. I hope all is well. I'm writing to ask if you would make a video for a fruit basket that can store on a table or counter, or how many rounds I should make with this basket to make it medium size? I desperately need one. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Kris. I wish you peace, love, happiness, and well being.

If single crochet is how you do the sides it's not working on mine any suggestions I'm us to if that makes a difference (notice your accent) I see it's purple I think it may be your phone if that's where your looking since notice Samsung does blue and purple better. That is huge I love it
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
hi, i use american crochet terms. if your sides are not working up or moving up like sides you could be adding too many stitches instead of just adding one stitch in each stitch. if you are just working one stitch then the sides should start to climb up after a while. it will look wonky for a bit though.
@carolchidlow47986 жыл бұрын
Are these sturdy enough to put it on its side, stack them and use to store yarn that way?
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
G'day Carol Chidlow thank you for your comment, no because it is crocheted and it has soft sides. If the baskets were super full they may stack, but it will not be very sturdy
@SharnFranghiadi6 жыл бұрын
After looking through KZbin I decided to use this as my first ever crochet project because it looks really functional for future projects (here's hoping!) with clear instructions. Took me a while to get going but I'm now on my 15th round and loving it. I've had a problem with flouncing, which I see you've answered already, but could you explain more about why this happens? I'm presuming it's a tension issue? My 15th round measures 13cm from centre to edge, with lots of flounce from about halfway out from the centre. Do I really have to rip it back that much and how can I avoid it going forward. Thanks.
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
hello, yes the curling could be caused by the tension of your crocheting or could also just be that it is a project in double strand, that will also cause it to curl. if it is just a little or small curl it is easy to flatten out and will sit just fine. you can try to loosen your tension a little also and see if that helps. as long as you are alternating your increase rounds and plain rounds your basket should be fine. If it is really bad then i would suggest that you rip out a few rounds and redo them with a looser tension.
@jeannakelly41748 жыл бұрын
Hi love the basket I know understand increasing in the round much better. One quick question your just sc all around after increasing I made a small paper clip cup and pencil bag that starts the same as your basket but builds up sides by going in blo . Would that work for this project? Thank you so much
@CrochetwithClare7 жыл бұрын
yes you could make the basket by working into the back loops only. the only thing about using the back loops for big projects like this is that they are not as stable as using both loops and will stretch a lot with wear and weight
@jeannakelly41747 жыл бұрын
Oh ok i see what you mean thank you so much. I didn't think about that . thanks for answering my question
@darkb4light066 жыл бұрын
Would this work if you did a chain up rather than just keep going when beginning a new round?
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
hello, yes you could join after every round if you like. the continuous rounds of this project just make it so there is no join line. the basket would work either way though,

Ok, I am so unbelievably cornfused here...this is my first time making a basket and using more than one string. I am on row 2 and I have slowed down the video as much as I can go to see if you are putting your hook through 2 loops (1 stitch), or 4 loops? I am having a lot of trouble getting my hook through 4 loops in row 2. so I'm hoping that I am doing it wrong and only supposed to be putting my hook through the front 2 loops of the single crochet LOL!
@CrochetwithClare5 жыл бұрын
you are putting you hook into all the loops (so one stitch) you will not being using front or back loops at all. until you have the base the size you want just keep increasing. when it is the size you want then you will just being adding one single crochet in each stitch

If my bottom doesn't want to lay flat is it my tension is too tight
@CrochetwithClare8 жыл бұрын
Hello, it could be a combo of things :) hook too big for yarn, loose tension I do not think it would be because it is too tight If it is starting to ruffle bad, take out the last increase round and add a round or a few rounds of just 1 stitch in each and no increasing Hope this helps you
