I do something very similar, but I add the garlic to the cook. That way you are not eating raw garlic, and it seems to flavor it better. I also salt and pepper lightly before cooking. Potatoes are one of those vegetable that can absorb salt while cooking.

Mine turned out like potato soup - but adding some cheesy instant mashed potatoes until the consistency was right saved Thanksgiving.

I'm going to try this recipe today while enjoying the week in the woods in the rv. Gives me time to go fishing without having to worry about this part of dinner. Whether I enjoy the recipe or not I'm giving it a thumbs up purely because the video was fun to watch... You've got a new fan!!!

I love dryroasted onion on my mash potatoes. It’s soooo good. I’m gonna have to try this recipe. What potatoes are best, those that holds together or those who falls apart while cooking?
@barbarastrickland83607 жыл бұрын
I make this exact recipe in the oven except i cover them with loads of cheese. I call it "Barbs heart attack potatoes" I love the idea of not boiling 5 lbs of taters. I'm definitely gonna do this in the crockpot on Christmas. Thank you.

Made them that way for years, minus the crockpot. Always a hit. Love using broth instead of milk. Great tip on the differences between potatoes. Being a diabetic, it's best to use the red or baby yukon golds, that are less carbohydrates than the standard Idaho russet tater. 😀

FYI, add 1 large egg and some green onion. And put into a couple buttered casserole and freeze for future use. Make-ahead mash potatoes! Yum. I make them all the time. Perfect at Christmas. Take them out of the freezer the night before, thaw id fridge and bake in oven at 325!

Thank you for doing this video. I have been waiting for this one. Those are simpler to Pioneer Woman's make ahead mashed potatoes. Well she doesn't put it in a crock pot but the ingredients she puts in them are. I haven't put cream cheese in my mashed potatoes before will have to try that. Thanks again.. Love your videos

+Michelle Douglas Cream cheese definitely bumps up the creaminess of the taters. We dig the Pioneer Woman 'round these parts! Cris actually got to meet Ree once. Nicest lady!

You mentioned that you use freeze dried garlic. Does that mean that you guys have a Freezedryer? If you do could you pleeeeease do a video on freeze-dried mashed potatoes. Mine turn out all sticky and gummy. I enjoy watching you too so much. It makes me chuckle first thing in the morning and that’s a good thing.

Hi you guys I haven't watched or commented in a while had some sad things happen around here.. your potatoes look yummy! But you mentioned that you were out of dehydrated garlic? I know you guys are in Indiana so do you have any Amish discount stores around you or Amish grocery stores.. anyways I found this huge round Deli size container full of dehydrated garlic for like $7.. you know like one of them clear ones that are like 7 to 9-inch tall and you get cold salad at Deli counters.. they carry it regularly along with other things that are hard to find in the store that cost so much they have powdered cream soup bases and everything.. anyways it was just a thought you guys could check there because what I went to buy dehydrated garlic at the regular store it was like sticker shock for me.. Blessed Be

Well I am going to try this tomorrow, but I am going to put 3 or 4 fried hamburger steaks on top of the taters in the crock pot in the morning. Going to put a can of sliced mushrooms on top of the steaks which will be on top of the taters in the crock. Then when I get home I am going to remove the steaks, smother them in brown gravy in a frying pan. Then make the mashed taters like you did, and serve with a side veggie of course. Wish me luck?

@charlesparell55972 жыл бұрын
A blender or an immersion blender can VERY QUICKLY turn your potatoes STIFF. So be careful. It's actually because of the butter and milk or creams that make it stiff when blending. Thats how you make butter in a blender. Stick with mashing or smashing only.
@Flockstars5 жыл бұрын
Ok so I'm not using cream cheese or sour cream. I'm going a different path but thanks for helping figure out dinner😁

I've never used the crockpot for cooking the potatoes, but I will have to give that a try. For family holiday gatherings I'm usually asked to bring my Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Cheescake. I use my crockp[ot to keep the potatoes hot for dinnertime. A small amount of Chives or chopped green pepper would add some extra flavor to the party.
