Glad that I hung around 'til the end; Jon's rant beginning at 36:16 should be played as a public service announcement on radio and TV everywhere. We'll never make things better if we give up, that's is what they want us to do - give in and accept. Never give up and give in to what's wrong. I don't know who said it but it's so true - Democracy isn't a spectator sport

Earlier today I almost responded to someone with “We’re fuc…” , but stopped myself in the middle of typing the word. It must have been a premonition of Jon’s inspired rant. Thank you. It doesn’t feel so much like we’re flying off a cliff now. 🤗🤗🤗 There’s no reason to give up. They want us to give up. They may even expect us to give up. Well…we’re stronger than that. Thanks again, guys. 👍🏻

I looked up the General Hospital KFC episode and in that scene, I shit you not, "the Colonel" says he was once cursed by a warlock and can see into the soul of a person, so he knows that the woman he's talking to is "above reproach". Someone in the comments said that was the writers giving a big middle finger to the heads of the company who made them write that shit and I believe it fully and without question.

Bizarro Arby's note: A guy I knew from Berkeley, CA as a child put food items in glad closed aquarium like containers to grow fungus. A banana would turn into a wildly colorful display, for example. BUT his most famous object was the Arby's roast beef sandwich that NEVER changed. Years and still the same.
@tvdv34162 жыл бұрын
What year(s) was this? I knew someone at Clark Kerr who did the same thing. One of the most disturbing parts about it was that there isn't an Arby's in Berkeley or Oakland.

Which wouldn't stop someone from collecting the sandwich from any location... This was in the 70s, even late 60s. Great point though, thanks!

FYI Shop Around The Corner was on the UWS and I know this because I grew up in the neighborhood (76th & Columbus) and they filmed You've Got Mail the summer before my senior year of high school. The Gray's Papaya where they had lunch in one scene was on 72nd and Amsterdam/Broadway and they glue gunned fall leaves onto the trees one weekend to film a scene that was supposed to be in autumn. Shop Around the Corner is or was (last time I was home) a l'Occitane. You're welcome.

I have absolutely been guilty of some negativity over the last week. I understand the need for a rally call to fight back. But the reason I feel hopeless is because WE are humans of integrity who play by the rules. Bill Murray's character is in every way a scumbag, it's the whole point of his arc. I know all of these movies in some way or another are obvious scumbag behavior to *some* degree, though some far less than others, but Groundhog Day is about *the* scumbag getting his comeuppance by being trapped on the day of the year he hates the most in the one place in the world he hates the most for what seems like an eternity (the original script has the main character say he's been stuck for 10,000 years, which is probably not precise since he can't keep track of time the way he'd like, but I'd wager he'd been at it for upwards of a millennia at least). The only reason he ever gets free is because one day he just stops being a scumbag and enjoys life. He doesn't manipulate anyone, he does good for the sake of doing it even though it doesn't benefit him or anyone else because the day would just reset to his knowledge, and he doesn't brag or act out. He's just being himself, which by this point is someone extremely talented and helpful. It's a pretty messed up movie, but in all the best ways. Mostly, I think his punishment was pretty unfair, because being a sleazeball who hates his life isn't really something I think you should spend an eternity in a frozen hell for, but it sure made for an entertaining movie. I rewatched it just this past Christmas.

Lowrise jeans are way better (more comfortable) than Mom jeans. Why are mom jeans back? They push into your ribcage and make you feel you're trapped in your own pants. It's also a waste of material and looks good on no one. What's next, shoulder pads are back? Also, half the women in this country are losing the rights to their own bodies. No one should be forced to be pregnant and no one should be forced to wear mom jeans.

I never saw that movie. Was it really that bad? I actually thought the original premise was fairly progressive. I.e., a dude who was entirely swayed by magazine and model culture seeing strength of character and a good personality as being beautiful. But I guess it depends on the execution. I can see it being really cringe if the people who made the movie didn't really understand how to present the idea in an inoffensive way.
