There is something really absurde as a Danish citizen looking at USA. You repeat again and again and one more time: "we are the richest and best country in the world", when at the same time it is clearly not related to normal people. You have rich companies and Billionaires, but in general most people seem to struggle. It is like you are all brain washed into saying the same thing so that nobody stand together in the fight for everyone and especially the middle and low class. The Billionaires are not gonna struggle. You really don't have to help them!

You are so spot on correct. Do you want to know why this “richest and best” messaging works? It works because we defund education at the basest levels and leave people without the critical thinking skills to understand that they will never amass the wealth of Bezos, and shouldn’t vote to protect their “future” interests. People here in the US deuce themselves into thinking they should vote to protect the rich because one day they may be rich too. It is brainwashing. It’s the myth of the “American Dream”.

Y’all are kind of dancing around it (Dan said it), but we need to give people an ENEMY but also GO AFTER THEM (not just give people handouts to deal with the unfair practices of our enemies). This UHC stuff has made that painfully clear. Not just $25k on your down payment or getting your student loans forgiven. But go after the private equity firms buying up all the houses! Go after the universities charging insanely high tuitions! Until we can say those things with our full chest and execute on them, people see things like help with a down payment and student loan forgiveness as handouts that only benefit select groups of people. Plus, help with a down payment assumes that person/family can even get a halfway decent interest rate and find a house in their price range and desired neighborhood. Solve the problems at the source, and go after the CEOs and oligarchs causing them. That’s the kind of rhetoric Bernie has always used, and that’s why he’s beloved. And that’s why people are drawn to Trump. He’s a lying con artist, but EVERY empty promise out of his mouth is accompanied by clear rhetoric of who is to blame for that problem and how he’ll prosecute them in some way or take them down-immigrants for crime, promiscuous women for abortions, etc., etc. And what’s maddening is that if our politicians had the guts to call out our enemies and actually commit to bringing them down, WE WOULDN’T BE LYING! Kroger IS the reason your eggs are expensive, not “inflation caused by Joe Biden.” And we had Lina Khan doing all this awesome work to go after monopolies, and I swear NO working class, uneducated voter would be able to tell you who that is or what she was doing. SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS, PEOPLE, and then sic ‘em (the big corporations, CEOs, and oligarchs)!

The $25 K down payment on a house was not for me, whose parents both had / have names on deeds. I still think it would be a good step in addressing systemic racism without straight up cash handouts (particularly as it would help strapped folks of all colors), and without a bunch of red tape proving pedigrees to enslaved persons. The enslaved pedigree approach skirts other harms based on skin tones, and would miss a family like Kamala's for her enslaved ancestor(s) being over the borders.

I feel like the ideal outcome is always bared by lobbies and money in politics. Once money is in there, it seems like a vast majority is required to even begin clawing back control from the wealthy minority. Adding to the difficulty, that very same minority can also hamper the building of a majority via fox'n friends and all their other propaganda. Cynical, who me? 😅

It's not about the Hunter pardon. It's because Biden announced 1500 pardons one week after Hunter's pardon. The pardon announcements are fine but it was politically stupid not to do both at the same time. It's another sign how out of touch the Biden administration has been about how their actions are perceived by the general public. While Trump won't care about Biden's actions one way or the other it's silly to give the Republican simple wins.

@@YourBlackLocal in the video. You said it yourself. The pardon was issued over a week ago. It's not a developing story. It's done. No need to bring it up at all, and certainly no need to let us all know ONCE AGAIN that they're unhappy about it. Keep in mind, lots of people were listening to these guys and their traditional approach to politics during the presidential campaign. And look how that election went. The dated input of Democratic insiders is losing its value at breakneck speed.

I personally feel it was a good move for him to keep the Hunter pardon and these other pardons separate. The thought expressed by some that he should have slipped Hunter into a larger slew of pardons would have seemed covert and dishonest. He kept them separate. Imagine the reaction if he had tried to slip it past the public by tucking Hunter’s pardon in with all the rest.

38:49 housing! Democrats at the federal, state, and local level should focus on bringing down housing costs! Introduce new regulations to disincentivize the commodification of housing and in parallel rework local regulations to make it easier to build more housing and to build medium density housing and create grants for new housing developments that commit to at-cost housing. There's SO MUCH that Democrats could do to bring down housing costs that would be popular!

Oxfam estimates the top 1% wealth grew by 40 trillion over the past 10 years. $40 trillion would be $130,000 per person in the US. Why are the 330 million afraid to challenge the status quo? If we are rational and acting in our own best interest, creating an equitable tax policy should pass 326 million to 4 million votes. Democrats and republican voters should postpone arguments over other divisive issues and unite on wealth redistribution.

@@Roberta-q1q Elon’s claim for his IQ is literally just himself, and there’s no evidence of him ever haven taken an IQ test. Seriously; he never took one in school, or at university, and MENSA has said that he never took their test (despite what he had claimed years ago). A lot of people have just come to the conclusion that he’s “guessing”. Also, I’m not sure where this FAQ got Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s IQ from, as he’s made a specific point of never disclosing it when asked. A lot of the purported IQs for public figures are just made up, as most of the people either never took the test, or have never disclosed their results. I can’t speak to Elon’s intelligence directly, or as to whether his claim has any actual foundation, but I’ll just say that some of the most ridiculously uninformed (and sometimes aggressively ignorant) things I’ve ever heard, and not something that you would expect from someone who is as intelligent and knowledgeable as he claims to be. Musk has a reputation for exaggerating his achievements (such as misrepresenting his honorary degrees as actual research degrees), so I’ll err on the side of that being likely the case here, too.

No, I remember. The tax cuts are one of the main things that made the economy so good during Trump's 1st term. Most people just don't understand economics. He is going to boost the economy again when his new tax cuts get implemented. Does it mean every single American will benefit from it, not necessarily, but the vast majority of workers will see an improvement in their finances, even if corporations don't directly pay their employees more, most will at least reinvest the money they save, which will grow the economy overall in numerous ways. It will probably take about 2 years to really feel the effects. But I think it will only take a year to see electric bills & gas prices go down. Between al 3, in 2026 or 2027 the economy is gonna be booming, just like in 2019.

I agree that the US government should have been more aggressive in the last 40 years encouraging US manufacturing, American consumers only care about the cheapest price and don't care where it's made. Using tariffs to try to reverse decades of outsourcing will kill the US economy and create inflation far beyond anything we saw during Covid. The truth is the US gave up its ability to pull out of the world economy when we got the world to use the dollar as its standard currency. Anyone remember what happened when Liz Truss started doing things the London market's didn't like? Trump doesn't understand economics but he does understand Dow Jones. Idk about action list, but I've joined a local democratic group that meets at least once a month to discuss local politics. Good homework: learn your local representatives by name (start with your district), pay attention to what they voted on what bills, and prepare to take out the trash in 2 years at local elections. Rally around up and coming leaders, or ones that just won this election, and support them. And don't be afraid to talk about politics, keeping these conversations going is important.
