Hi Anton, it can be if you expect a Year 9 pupil to use this information straight away, so I agree with you in that respect. However, just like when someone is training with weights, you've got to be doing it for a while before you can lift heavy comfortably. Same with these videos with my Year 9: come the time for them to complete essays most find the option of these videos quite useful to reinforce and deepen their existing knowledge. Also, I've come to realise that you should never underestimate young people because the majority - in my experience - rise to a challenge and feel really proud when they've achieved something that to begin with seemed an overload, as you say.
