We are in the winterless north of New Zealand.
Hop on board for a topdressing sortie of high analysis fertiliser. We are carting 1300kgs spreading at a lighter application rate, because of this our load time is a bit longer than usual. I explain a few of the different flying patterns we use when spreading fertiliser.
Aircraft: Cresco
Rego: ZK-PGE
Date: July 2021
Enjoy!

Wow, that is a lot going on to monitor and look at... in addition to normal low level hazards like birds, wires, towers etc. Much respect. Your energy management for lining up to landing is amazing. I can hear my check airman screaming, "that's not a stabilized approach". But it works. =)

Loving these videos - keep em coming! Caught the bug going for rides in the field air fletcher in Nelson many years ago - no gps back then, just aim for the sheep tracks and roads to keep the cockey's happy...

The prop vortices at 14:40 look amazing, I've never seen that effect before from the cockpit. You had me at those powerline joke 🤣

Would you recommend this as a career path to a young person in there early 20s? I’m in golf right now but I have wanted to be a pilot since I was about 9 but airlines never interested me. It does seem a bit more dangerous than being a golf course superintendent. Does this job get really tedious? I’d need to load first. I’d also have to become a pilot which is expensive.

how do you know if you need flap? does you using flaps have something to do with not having a trim toggle switch on the stick
@JimboBurgess
@JimboBurgess 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Quite tricky to answer. In the Cresco I use flap in the turn depending on how far across to my next run. Normally anything less than 300m and I'll use it 👍

You mention it's more comfortable flying from the right seat. Do you figure that's because you drive on the wrong side of the car?😆 Great flying Jimbo! Stay safe

I worked as an aircraft engineer for a topdressing company in the early 2000's. The old pilots used to say make sure there's fert on the farm tracks and around the water troughs , anywhere there is bare dirt the farmer can see ( cant see it in the grass easily) Then hes happy.
