Mark - Another great video. I'm a city kid - most of my extended family are farmers. And I gotta say, this is the first time I've heard a farmer be concerned about dandelions in a corn field. But then clean fields are important to you and a dandelion is a weed. It did make me smile, as I thought only us city people with yards were concerned about the little devils. God's blessings to you, Sandi, and your family as you go about the work you do bringing food to the world.

Glad to see the corn in, quite the change from last year! Now, about this feeling tired. Listen to your body. I'm not saying that you and Sandi are getting old but you are approaching the point where your brain starts writing checks that your body can't cash. Might be time to start thinking about giving Mark and Sandi as much attention as the land and sheep receive. I'm no lifestyle guru but I do know that a person only has so many physical lifts, youthful immortality burns through them quickly. You two run a pretty hot fire at times. I could have just said take better care of yourselves but I like the sound of myself in my head. Rant over.

When I was young I used to help on a friends farm. This was about 40 years ago and I am so amazed at the changes in this business. I love recognizing different machinery in the fields that I wasn't even aware of. Sometimes I am tempted to just knock on the door and ask to follow around and learn. Until I work up the courage to do that thank you Mark for the education.

Liked you comment about the difference in color in the wheat depending on the direction and sun light. 20 years ago I was competing in a young farmer rancher contest and one of the questions in the application asked what valuable lesson I had learned that year? I answered that I shouldn’t ware sun glasses when I went out to check the crops. If I did I always ordered irrigation water three to four days to late. The alfalfa and peas and oats always looked healthy green when I had sun glasses on. But if I took them off I was able to see when the plants started to show stress. I was docked for the answer because they thought I was being flippant. I would love to come and work with you all just for the experience. Thanks for being such a great voice for agriculture!!

You want some rain? Wish granted, how's 50-60 mm on the weekend. Corn all planted, so far ahead of last year has to be a good feeling. Does your river run year round? Another question; is the Canola crop for silage? As usual a great educational video on crops. You have a great delivery that I certainly enjoy. Will be watching this winter as you make the little changes to the corn planter.
@MarkBrock4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the river runs water all year round. The corn we're growing is for grain but we use a very small amount as silage for the sheep.

How often do you need to replace the Tyres on your machines? Here in Australia they can vary depending on being in the mines, heat etc. I am just curious as I know my son is working his way to get into Mechanics on large scale mining machines and also deciding if he may although go into the locomotives side of engineering. Changing the bogies on a loco is a whole different world.
