Horns exist, but they are not as effective sometimes. Also the Southern Pacific Daylight 4449 has a whistle and an 'air horn', pretty interesting.

Except modern diesel locomotives dont produce steam, and using air for whistles doesnt sound the same unlike being steam powered. Not to mention, steam whistles are more expensive and no company mass produces whistles anymore

Steam engines don’t need to worry about red traffic lights, they just blow their whistle once and all the traffic will move away, and if it doesn’t they just shove them out of the way

This is an actual L&N 3 chime freight whistle that was borrowed from a member of the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation. It was part of the masquerade. The 4501 is also wearing a L&N headlight.

It is SOU 4501. There never was an L&N 1593. If I remember correctly the numbers ended at 1592.
