My favorite places to stay when I was visiting Bali were Nusa Dua and Ubud. One place I did not like at all was Kuta Beach. You are so right to point that Bali is much bigger that it looks on a map. I spent 3 months there in several trips when I was living in Indonesia, exploring different parts of the island every trip, and I have not seen everything.

First 2 nights of my 3 week Bali vacation will be in Uluwatu. Relax a bit after a long flight. Next will be 3 nights in Canggu. After seeing this video I think Uluwatu is a perfect destination to end for 1 or 2 nights again before going back to the Netherlands. Great video, thanks!

It was pretty clear right from the start that you're more of an Ulu girl, hahah. I'm a surfer and I've been to Bali many times. I'd like to highlight that the Bukit(Ulu, Padang, Bingin..) is more for Int-advanced surfers. Uluwatu has been developed quite a lot over the years. In the past, it was just about the waves and there wasn't much else you could do. Even many of my friends who travelled to Bali for the surf preferred to stay in Kuta and drove down to Ulu every day. Now Canggu is the new Kuta. I always stay the first couple of days in Kuta because it's the closest to the airport and I'm super tired after a flight from Europe. Kuta is also a good place to find a good deal if you're planning to hire a skuta.

Yes, I think it's impossible not to come back to Bali)) When I was in Uluwatu, the Drealand beach was a no name one and Canggu was a simple quite place😁 so it's time to come back now!

Great video 👏🏼 Totally agree, Uluwatu has the best vibe! Ubud is very nice as well but too far from the beaches. As a surfer, the difference with Canggu and Uluwatu is beach break waves are in Canggu and reef break waves are in Uluwatu.

What would you say is the difference between the two types of waves? I'm a beginner/intermediate surfer (did a surf camp week in Australia years ago and picked it up really quickly) and dying to pick up surfing again when I go traveling again in November (I start in Bali)

Interesting with different perspective. I didn't think the traffic in Canggu was too bad tbh. I liked the area because you can walk to different restaurants or take a Gojek and reach your destination in maximum 10min. Uluwatu imo is more spread out, takes longer time to go to different places and the traffic in Ungusan is crazy. Haha.
@scottman895 Жыл бұрын
This is such a great comparison between the two! I probably would feel more at home in Uluwatu as well especially with how more laid back it is and that it has less traffic. I still would love to experience both someday though. Awesome video Crosby! This was very well done!

Hi Crosby, I just watched both of your videos about Canggu and Uluwatu. super helpful. Ill definitely stay a bit more in Uluwatu than Canggu. One question tho - In Canggu there probably super easy to connect with other digital nomads via FB groups, co-works etc. I am thinking of going to yoga and surf classes. but it would be great to have ''friends'' already before arriving there :) Do you have any tips and tips on how to join a community and make friends there fast, some FB, or WhatsApp groups or any thing that coms to your mind??

@CrosbyGraceTravels Жыл бұрын
I love them both for different reasons. Indonesia definitely has the most natural wonders and adventure in such a condensed area, but I feel more comfortable and at home in Mexico. It comes down to personal preference of course, but I will definitely be back to both places in the future!

@@CrosbyGraceTravels thks for sharing-Me too! Haven’t been to SE Asia in 20 yrs, looking fwd to bringing my kids this yr, but also dreaming of returning to Mexico, so many more places to explore there too. Traveling is the best 👌😎 The language barrier is challenging in SE asia with so many diff languages to learn! I appreciate how Spanish is spoken in so many countries in Latin America. Easy to learn + connect with ppl and make an effort to show respect/gratitude for being a guest in their country. In Asia, speaking English, I feel disrespectful at times, expecting ppl to understand me. I wish I could learn more languages!! I’m learning malay/Indonesian basics for this trip. I do love when I meet ppl in villages who are excited to converse/practice their English 💜

Thank you for the tips❤, you said that uluwatu is good for surfers but can we swim (no surfing) easily or there is a lot of waves and stream?
@kylelawrence84127 ай бұрын
I would hesitate on giving surfing recommendations as someone who doesn't surf, FYI. If someone actually surfs, they know where to find good information surrounding surfing. And if someone does not surf, you may be pointing them in a poor direction. Uluwatu is not a good place to surf for beginners, the wave can be very heavy with shallow reef, and it's very crowded so it can be quite dangerous. And it's not like Ulu needs any more surfers flocking to it! Just something to keep in mind when commenting on a world you are not familiar with. Cheers!
