I've heard that the hole in the back of the Canadian valve works like some kind of governor that releases air pressure past a certain point which will keep the pressure low even if you pump it 50 times plus. Have you found that to be true?

its part of how they detune the .177 cal airguns on us for canada to keep them under 500 fps

depends where its escaping from but in my opinion put in a new set of seals new valve stem and new pump cup and youll be good as new again.
@theFormidable15 ай бұрын
I think that's a safety feature for when people miss count and accidently do more than 10 pumps, it gives a buffer that you can actually go to 15 pumps and still stay within the valve/Oring threshold without causing unnecessary stress or damage because of accidental overpumping, maybe?
@KevinMillard685 ай бұрын
well i talked to crosman directly and it was a full on defective batch and they were happy i brought this to their atten and its been dealt with as well it was not a new design of any sort and mis counting can happen yes but that's not going to stop you from over pumping even a proper built valve will still dum 30 pumps and you will get a fair amount of extra speed but you do risk damaging the pump piston
@theFormidable15 ай бұрын
@@KevinMillard68 so those were defective? Anyway I just bought a 1322 a week ago from Amazon, I know this is an old video, but did they fix the valves in the more recent batches, and can I pump mines to 10 pumps and leave it pressurized overnight or will doing that damage the seals overtime?

thanks just wanted to let every one know whats up and why they guns are not shooting like the use to ,. I wounder if crosman will fix this. its still a great valve and power potential is still there but be nice if they worked like they used to, that nip off the top answers a lot of questions.

if you drill the valve inlet int he front of the valve larger you slow it down more. not speed it up the transfer port you can drill out for more speed, you can also turn down the tip of the probe for more speed to.

I recently ordered a reseal kit for my 1377 from Bryan and Associates. First Ron sent me the wrong kit. I returned it at my own expense, and waited another week until he sent the correct kit. It contained a used valve stem assembly with cracked rubber seal. I called Ron again, and he disconnected our call. Has anyone else had issues with this company? what I can tell you for sure is that you can easly get in 15 pumps inot the 1322 and dump it all in one shot with no problem if you look at the us valve in the video with the tip cut down it will fit and dump almost 30 pumps out cause there is the space gap now that under powers it at 10 pumps so now you need to almost double it to get the max cap of the valve. Hopefully crosman fixes this and get the valve back to normal again , but it does have some good points to it as well with the tip off

I've read that there are a couple of types and the difference was the color. Brass or silver. This would help me before I rebuild my air rifle with ordering and time
@KevinMillard68Ай бұрын
as long as whats in your gun now is the same then yup they work crosman use to do all the valves in brass now they are all aluim these days other then the 2240 which is still all brass
@XtremeConditions12 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's surprising. I recently bought the "new" version, the one with the black trigger. Even with this weaker valve, I thought the thing had some awesome power. I HAVE TO get a flat top piston, it would be awesome to get the "regular" power, plus, what the new piston can offer. Great video Kevin, it really surprised me.
@SirThunderPants11 жыл бұрын
I think I did a poor job of expressing my point. I don't really know what I'm talking about. My thought was this.. If the truncated point on the valve you show negatively effected performance, and the flat head valve being an exaggerated version of this truncation, wouldn't that have an adverse effect? I think I may not understand the mechanics. I don't think the flat head provides a power increase, it just gets you to max pressure with fewer pumps? But max does not change?
@KevinMillard6811 жыл бұрын
the 1377 1322 2289 valves are all the same , so getting to max pressure is a total of 15 pumps , 10 pumps is crosmans max but the max of the valve is really 15 pumps so to use the auctual flat top piston and flat top valve at 10 pumps is really 15 so 5 pumps to 6 pumps is really 10 pumps, so at 10 pumps its max pressure which also means more power, with the valve in this video it reduces power with the tip off cause it cases extra space in the front of the valve that is not compressed ,
@gAirGunning11 жыл бұрын
To improve power I actually removed a little more from the valve face on my 2289, along with stuffing the piston, shimming the cup, and a few other head space reducing things. Though just shaving off a little to better match the pump cup will make a performance improvement.
@KevinMillard6811 жыл бұрын
by stuffing as you call it will increase power i agree there and by making the valve a bit flatter to deal with the stuffing of the pump cup yes it increases power its called the poor mans flat face mod.
@gAirGunning11 жыл бұрын
KevinMillard68 Never heard it called that. There are a number of tests done by people that know more than me showing that the stuffed piston does better than the Flat top. And an adjustable aluminum Cup Piston even better. Then shaping the face increases on this. I have an adjustable Flat top that I do not use. I am working on a aluminum adjustable Cup Piston. (it only costs about $8 USD to make a good adjustable Cup Piston or Flat top :-) ).

That's exactly what I did, I used short a spring out a old brass one combined with the long stiff spring, drilled out the hole from the valve to the barrel, extended the piston with a piece of plastic behind the rubber, filed the cone flat almost, I actually think a pointed cone reduced air an power. .. it's so much better now it's unbelievable, an it sounds awesome now, an I can tell a huge difference in power !

Look at U.S. patten No. 5,224,465. They have added a baffle to reduce air discharge rate in the valve.
@paulandrulis46728 жыл бұрын
That flat spot creates a dead air space between the pump and the valve pump face. Adding pumps won't increase the pressure. Unfortunately, that flat spot is a deliberate detune of the gun to make it permanently weaker. The maximum pressure you can put into anything depends on the max pressure of the pump itself. Dead space reduces max pump pressure.
@KevinMillard688 жыл бұрын
your totaly incorrect i talked to crosman guys at crosman about it and it turned out that it was something that they were not even aware of that happen as they do not do this sort of thing to the valves .. in a canadian valve which you can not buy as a replacement they have from the factory a bleed hole in the back of the valve the usa valves do not ..these valves with the flat tip are USA valves that i bought and i have bought USA valves before any they ran out full power
@paulandrulis46728 жыл бұрын
Well, that would make it a manufacturing defect then. Either way, it would detune the gun and my statements about pump pressure and dead space are correct. Those are just basic physics. The Canadian bleed holes are deliberate detunes designed to reduce maximum pressure to limit gun output power. Similar things are done to airguns for England to make sure the gun meets the maximum 12fpe legal requirement. I will grant Crosman the benefit of the doubt concerning a deliberate detune, but that would mean something worse, namely a complete lack of inspection and quality control! A defect that bad would be easily spotted upon even a cursory visual examination, one that even workers on the assembly line would notice as they assembled the parts. That is -- unless they were producing a whole line of them where every cone was flattened. You see the problem here.

Ok I am standing corrected. The problem is that the newer valves have a slightly shorter check valve and thus a slightly greater internal volume :-) . Sorry about that. This should have been a duh as one of my mods was to add a small shim in the valve to reduce the volume slightly.

wow you must have some old valves , the new ones in the last few years all have had the same size check valve seals and springs etc etc. the cnd and US valves do have the same internals they drill a hole in the back of the cnd valve to detune it. i have still to see the other changes which im thinking our cnd valve must now be a bit thicker or shallower in the back or in the front facing or something anyhow thats about all i can tell ya for now till i can do all the measurements etc.

I pump mine with these updates to 22 pumps and i go through o rings like theres no tomorrow but theres DEFINATLY no power loss hahahaha. got nice walnut grips and pumping arm too and put the black grips on my 1377. you'l notice by the valve stem the hole it goes in has no seal :S

well.. cronys don't lie is all I can say :) 10 pumps on original does the same as 15 for me and more thanks to the upgrades i've done. O rings are pennies. sorry you don't like my alterations. do you think the valve could benefit from having some sort of seal at the base of the stem internally? seems to be some air escaping from there.. not much but some.
@gAirGunning11 жыл бұрын
The newer valves have a bit stronger spring. That is the only reason for the power difference. The change in the valve face actually helps produce more power by better fitting the pump cup and thus reducing head space. The pump cup is not a pure cone there is a flat spot towards the middle.
@KevinMillard6811 жыл бұрын
ok well your wrong abou the valve sorry to say but you can believe what you like. i talked to the tops at crosman about this already and its not a hammer spring in the valve its callled a valve return spring there is a huge difference.

@bub_lite_63618 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Crosman deliberately designed the tank face to reduce power. The way it works: once the pressure inside the tank reaches a specific perssure, the pressure between the tank face and the piston cup has equalized with the pressure inside the tank. Any further pumping won!t add any more pressure to the tank. The only real way of increasing the pressure is by modifying the tank and pump faces to reduce as much 'dead' air space as possible.
@KevinMillard688 жыл бұрын
no they did not i talked to them my self as they called me once they saw the video this was not them that did this on purpose
@bub_lite_63618 жыл бұрын
I forgot to add, by making this kind of modification, you may also have to install a heavier 'hammer' spring as the old one may not be strong enough to open the exhaust valve due to higher pressures.
@bub_lite_63618 жыл бұрын
Kevys Rc & Music i'm not saying this is a malicious act. I think it's a safety and liability issue. As an example, I've personally owned no less than eight Crosman 760s, yrom the '70s to today. Thier power, over the years, has been reduced quite noticably. The tank face and pump assembly has gone through several design changes over the years which has affected the maximum amoubt of pressure that can be pumped into the tank. These design changes also makes it increasingly difficult for the average do-it-yourselfer to make changes to the rifle. I hardly think this is accidental. By making these modifycations, you can wind up damaging the gun, or worse, being injured. This is why I believe it ti be deliberate. Not to ne 'spiteful', but to prevent damage to the airgun or personal injury. By the same token, backing the power down a bit will reduce the risk of accidental death. It was not my intention to 'slam' Crosman, they're just following good safety policies.

#2 X 56 NC thread tap to plug the vent hole 🇨🇦
@KevinMillard68 Жыл бұрын
no vent holes to worry about in replacment valves and in most in fact only some of out airguns have the pisser hole in the valve but thats a factoy only thing thats done any time you order in a new valve no holes to reduce power as crosman does not produce replacment valves with the pisser hole ..

HOW IS THE FLAT TOPS IS THEY WORK GETTING DO IT MAKES THE GUN POWERFUL

you need the proper tools, lathe the right size drills proper sized ones cost some big bucks youll need some milling cutters as well 2 sizes 6 flut work the best youll also need of course the tooling for the lathe hss cutters learn to grind them to to the shapes you need as well , cone cutters seals you can order from crosman for crosman airguns. if your messing with aluim pumper valves then forget it way to touchy to mod thos valves so now we move to alternate mods for power.
@KevinMillard6811 жыл бұрын
this video is not related to the flat head valve at all. also the flat head valve also requires a flat head piston mod to , inorder to even work never mind adding power to the gun that's a whole other subject, whats happen here is what appears to be a bad machine job on the stock valves from crosman suggest watching the video again..
@KevinMillard6812 жыл бұрын
hi there there is no benefit to the tip being nipped off its a bad run of valves from crosman and iam pointing it out in the video so as to inform people if they get these valves you will have less power then before

so guys are saying there is like 1300 psi in the pumpers and if they are correct and if the whole 900psi per shot is correct in co2then you will be running 1300 psi in a pumper how ever the exiting pressure level in a pumper is a lot less then the 2240 for example its a bit of a mystery really to say for sure, so no defined answer for ya there is no way to measure the pumper pressure that I know of my self..

That was is excellent presentation. I appreciate my grandsons air rifle now. The American Classic 766 is in great shape.How do I load the BB's
@KevinMillard686 жыл бұрын
there s a BB port on the side to dump in a pile of bbs then you pull back on the back reciever switch tune the gun upside down give it a shak and point the barrel to the ground but not all the way to the ground then close the switch and then just cock the gun pump up and fire

btw I was referring to when the discharge occures. i have conducted a test and it concluded I was right. air is being lost from the valve stem bore hole. I am experimenting with small o rings to see if I can reduce this minor loss in pressure to optimise preformance although i might use a rubber based glue as the o ring could obscure the inlet plug. look for yourself before you ridicule my efforts. yes. the flat top could be improved by adding a a flattened cup instead of o ring, goodbye.

well you know the hammer spring that comes int he 1322 is more then good enough, its not about wacking the stem wide open its getting it to open and close fast enough to get more power, and yup the flat top piston mods are hard on orings for sure useless mod in my books

I just took apart my .22 Crosman Doomsday Bug Oug gun. Yep, it has the not so pointed tip. No wonder I can only 397fps with 10 pumps. I already installed the Marauder 2-stage target trigger grip. Now I will have to upgrade the valve pump, silencer, metal reciever and .177 barrel. By the time I am done it will be a $450 pumper. This is too crazy.
@KevinMillard689 жыл бұрын
well you can try and order new valve in and see if they fixed the problem on them , you can also drill out the metal trasfer port to 3.8 to 3.9 mm for more speed and seeing as you have the junk valve pumper her up 20 times ,, FYI modding airguns can get costly but its dam fun .. and when your done you get the gun you want in the end
@KevinMillard6811 жыл бұрын

you know just some advice if your going to mod airguns your self then get the right equipment the min size lathe you need is 7x12 and they are not overly expensive, you wont cure and micro leaks and if you do happen to get lucky it wont show on a chrony.man only makes stuff as good as the equipment and materials used.i have reasons when/why i dismiss something,as being incorrect or not worth the time or effort.i was not trying to be and ass with you at all. so please dont take things wrong way

@erwinpilipina67623 жыл бұрын
If you go on ebay you'll find many listings on these valves. Some valves will be modded which require you to have to buy the piston for it to work properly for around $60 and some valves will be modded but you can just install plug and play. Flat face valves need a flat faced piston for it to work properly. They will allow you to pump more air with more pumps .

ok. no, it likely has not made a great deal of difference as you mentioned it was more of a precaution for me to optimise the initial pressure discharge to keep me from getting bored one night and seeing as my gf was not around to.. play with.. I play with other things instead. tis' a fine balance, having man time for man hobbies and studies and finding the time to devote attention to women also, lol.I apologise for clustering up your mail box. I'm glad the situation has been resolved.
