Great video! I'm a JROTC instructor and we use the same rifle. You answered one big question we had about the bolt "catch." I'll look for replacement kits.

You should make documentaries for a living! This is so well done. The best video of it's kind that I have seen. Good luck in the future.

Excellent video review, Colby. I found it very helpful. Especially so since I'm also a left-handed shooter.

At 2:11 you mentioned that a full reservoir can fire around 50 rounds. Are you sure about it? A course of 10 meter competition is 60 shots. Does it mean the shooter, needs to fill the tank in the middle of the competition?

Excellent video super informative and thank you. I will purchase this air rifle because of this video. it sealed the deal. I will use it to practice for metallic silhouette.
@colbysakumoto97828 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! Just one thing, I don't know if the challenger (without modifications) has enough power to knockdown metallic plates. The rifle was really just built to make precise holes in paper. If you are going to use the rifle for silhouette, be sure to get pellets that will carry enough velocity. Hope this helps. -Colby

Colby, any chance of you doing a video on disassembling and resealing this gun?
@brokosok3 жыл бұрын
I noticed on my challenger all I did was change my front sight and it threw my zero off over an inch this barrel moves so easy I’m losing faith in this gun is this normal or is there a way to tighten up this barrel
@brycebentley48093 жыл бұрын
Can it just take air from a air compressor or does it have to be co2

Colby, I have a new Challenger 2009 that leaks down over night. I don't want to send it back because I'm competing with it. I haven't tried to find the source yet. Any ideas? Also, do you know of any guides or notes on resealing this gun? I'm an aircraft mechanic and probably can figure it out, but any hints or notes on potential booby traps, etc. would be welcome.

Mark, The rifle is probably leaking from the threaded piece that holds in the pressure gauge. There are o-rings on this part that can be replaced. If you are going to take the rifle apart you need to de-gas it first, your rifle should have come with a silver de-gassing tool.
@M-DBarton8 жыл бұрын
Colby, Thanks for the reply. Crosman now sells the de-gassing tool separately. I didn't know that and will be ordering one. I have to say, this is an accurate gun. More so than I am at the moment.

Colby, I finally sent the rifle back to Crosman. They changed everything out except the stock, barrel, and trigger. No charge. It now holds a charge. They stand behind their product.

Mark, that is excellent news! It just adds to the fantastic reputation of the product and the company. I hope your new rifle serves you well.

Colby, I just got a new CH2009 and it has a slow leak as well. I have tried to find info to replace the gauge O-ring. Could you point me to the right direction? Thanks a lot!
@colbysakumoto97828 жыл бұрын
The replacement 0-rings can be purchased through archer airguns. You will need to disassemble the air cylinder and action to gain access to part that holds the gauge in place. If you do not have the ability to safely take apart the cylinder, you can use automotive silicon gasket maker to make a seal around the exterior of gauge.
@puckja6168 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the info. Is the leaking a recurring problem for you? Or you solved it once for all. Thanks!
@colbysakumoto97828 жыл бұрын
The internal o-rings should be replaced annually if the rifle is being used in competition; this is what I do for my personal rifles because they are used heavily. If the rifle is just for recreation and occasional shooting, you can hold off on replacing them for a longer period of time. The silicon gasket is a good fix if you don't need the rifle for competition.
@puckja6168 жыл бұрын
Hi Colby: Could you suggest which type of silicone gasket makers works best? Thanks!
@colbysakumoto97828 жыл бұрын
You can try Permatex RTV silicon gasket maker. I use the blue version, but any should work. The rifle will need to be completely degassed before applying the silicone, an entire day of drying time is needed.

I have .177 caliber hollow point...will these work?
@colbysakumoto97827 жыл бұрын
Many types of .177 caliber pellet will with this rifle, these include domes, hollow points, wadcutters, etc. The pellets that I use in competition are wadcutters because they leave the cleanest holes in paper targets. I have used hollow points in this rifle for plinking, they were made by RWS.

how loud is this rifle?
@colbysakumoto97828 жыл бұрын
The rifle isn't too loud, most of the sound heard in the video was from the pellets hitting metal backstops.
