I bought the Cross Bailey and the Cross Baily Light at the same time, a splurge purchase at Staples. I do prefer the metal body of the regular Cross Bailey, but both wrote extremely well, and never seem to dry out. I had to have my lower right leg amputated on May 25, and was in the hospital for a week before and a week after, and then spent nearly three weeks in a physical rehab site while my leg heal. I was then home for two weeks before I could get to my office to try my pens. A number had dried out, including some pretty expensive gold nib pens, but all the TWSBI and Platinum pens were still wet, and so were both versions of the Cross Bailey.

Nice! And good to hear everything seemed to go well with the procedure and you're back at work!

I bought both at Office Max but at different times. The Bailey was purchased at a discounted price and the Light at the Store Closing sale. Good prices on both. I Anjou both and rotate them with other medium nib pens for my fairly work notes mostly on copy paper.

I’ve considered purchasing this pen, but really can’t justify another pen purchase. Nice review of pen qualities.

Thanks! I think it's a solid one, but maybe not a must-have if you've already got a decent collection started. It worked great for me as an office pen though!

It's sad that US legacy brands, that were staples of the industrial revolution, are not as popular these days. Brands like Cross, Waterman, Sheaffer, are not as popular as the Europe / Asian brands like Pilot, Platinum, Lamy, Faber Castell, etc.
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
Agreed, and I think it just comes down to quality and innovation. Since most of those brands are now owned by large companies, and often the same companies, they lose their individuality, innovation, and quality. For instance, Sheaffer and Cross are owned by the same company, and that was after Sheaffer was owned by Bic. And then you have Parker, Waterman, and Rotring all owned by the same company that owns Papermate and Sharpie. These conglomerates just don't care about fountain pens and so you end up just getting a minimal viable product to put on the shelves. Sad indeed...

Excellent review. Cross Bailey is a superb starter scribe - robust, inexpensive, & as you assert, multiple colour options. I prefer the Light version - the metal bodied does not appeal. It's a writing implement you cannot go wrong with - but as with all Cross fountain pens, they do err to the wider side of the nib designation - & as long as you bear that in mind, it's all good. Thank you !

Good review. Is Bailey light better then Parker IM in followings; -Nib smoothness. -Leak proofing. -Comfort. -Overall material quality of product. -Longevity. I just saw Bailey Light at a local shop was very impressed but didn't tried. I'm continuously thinking to buy. Should I go for it? Need your expert advice. Appreciate!

Good arguments for being a good entry level starter pen. Thanks!

Cross ink is so good because it's made by Pelikan, Cross Green is probably my favorite green. Modern Cross pens are so underrated, they perform really well but their designs are kind of outdated or senior oriented, get my meaning? Not exactly appealing. Some years ago I picked a Calais in rose gold from Amazon and I'm really impressed by its reliability, unfortunately it doesn't see much action because it's an M and too broad for my writing, but here in Mexico it's really difficult to get F or EF pens, such a shame 😔

That makes sense now about the ink production and it being so good! I completely agree, Cross are excellent pens but overshadowed by all the newer, interesting pens. I think Cross could really make a killing by revamping their lines!

Cross Bailey or Kaweco Perkeo?
@thestationerydev12 күн бұрын
I haven't tried the Perkeo, but have heard great things. I have put this Cross through the absolute ringer though and it works perfectly every time so my money is on the Cross!

Great videos! (and great videography! - nothing worse than watching ink reviews filmed with a potato, haha). Do you have an instagram page by chance?
@thestationerydev Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, and I agree on the potato! And I don't officially, but I definitely need to get on that. I'll let you know when I get it set up!

I don't think you mentioned what type of Cartridge this pen takes. Standard Internation perhaps?
@thestationerydev6 күн бұрын
I believe Cross has it's own proprietary ones, but I need to double check to make sure.

Weird, usually they come with a cartridge or two. Hopefully the pen is working good for you though!
