This is an introduction to the basics of how to ski using cross-country skis and some related observations about living in the wonderful country of Finland, as experienced by an Irish man who has lived here in the city of Turku for 20 years.

Great that you're going through my older material. I'm not a very good skier but it's great exercise. Have been a few times cross-country skiing in Lapland. It's wonderful, highly recommended.

My son is considering a school outing to Finland that involves a lot of cross country skiing, but he’s never skied before. Your video was ideal for him, introducing the basics and also some culture and Finnish traditions. Thank you so much for sharing your adopted country with the world! is it possible for him to practice in Japan prior to his visit? The more he can practice, the better. It's a fairly technical exercise. One thing he might practice would be walking with trekking poles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/baKViqqFepmioaMsi=kiupsqsW7vxwMP1c
