I just ordered one with your affiliate link! I reckon you don't have an affiliate for a ball machine (yet)? Your lessons are so inspiring btw, awesome.👏

@@vlaminggarrulus4785 wow thank you!!! That means so much to me! As for ball machine…not yet. I’m going to contact Slinger Bag to see if they offer affiliate links for people like me. Also, I wanted to thank you by offering a free 3-5 minute stroke analysis of any stroke of yours that I would post on KZbin. Reach out to me at ryan@2minutetennis.net to discuss!!! Thanks!!!

yes, but shorter DTL means the bounce is happening across from where their feet are, making the volley much tougher and much be an upward volley....

does the topspin pro allow you to tilt it to the side for a more proper form of topspin?

The concept of hitting the shot long vs hitting the ball wide resonated with me. I got this!

Great tips Ryan! Going for the crosscourt pass on the initial approach makes a lot of sense. The quality of the approach shot, for me at least, influences where I try to pass. Something deep that pushes me behind the baseline I will usually go up the line. If it's a crosscourt approach I'll try to send it back crosscourt at a sharper angle.

Why not lob in that instance?
@2MinuteTennis
@2MinuteTennis 3 жыл бұрын
@@allenburch8526 lobbing is a great choice. Y he mistake players make when lobbing is they have the wrong definition of a “lob” on their mind. Lobbing isn’t “a ball that goes over your opponent’s head”. A lob is simply a high ball. Players miss lobs long all the time bc they make sure the opponent can’t hit an overhead. You’ll actually have more success if you simply lob really high and allow your opponent to miss the overhead. It’s much more likely that your opponent will miss an overhead that’s falling fast (bc you hit really high), than win the point bc you hit over their head and got it to bounce in front of the baseline. Thanks!!

Great stuff Ryan in terms of deception for the cross Court shot would you angle your body or just the racquet face?
@Pfingstei

Great video, Ryan. Did you notice that you played error free down the line :-)? Cross court on the contrary seems to be more risky it seems (you play much better than I do, for sure).
@2MinuteTennis
@2MinuteTennis 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Down the line is easier (IMO) and harder for the opponent to get to. That’s why I recommend down the line a lot more often. But….people have been asking when to hit cc so I decided to make a video on it. But yes, the proof is in the pudding. Down the line is my PS of choice. Thanks!!!

Possibly true for the backhand, but not quite the forehand! • For the down-the-line forehand (starting at 8:02), Ryan was probably 6 for 8 (or 7 for 8). 8:10 might've been deep and 8:33 was in the net. • For the down-the-line backhand (starting at 9:57), Ryan was probably 6 for 7 (or 7 for 7). 10:22 might've been deep. • For the cross-court forehand (starting at 7:05), Ryan was probably 9 for 12 (or 10 for 12). 7:07 might've been wide, 7:36 was in the net, and 7:45 was in the net. • For the cross court backhand (starting at 8:41), Ryan was probably 11 for 16 (or 12 for 16). 9:02 was in the net, 9:25 was "deep", 9:30 was "deep", 9:40 might've been "deep", and 9:54 was in the net. It can be fun "chair umpiring" from the computer chair.

I agree on hits to my forehand it’s better to go down the line. However on hits to my backhand, my opponent usually leaves open the cross court.

When do you go for a lob instead of a passing shot? Do you put topspin or slice on a defensive lob?
@CJZM7777
@CJZM7777 2 жыл бұрын
I am not Ryan but a lob is a good choice on the first volley if they hit a deep volley because they will be much closer to the net. You can also lob off the approach if they put you under a lot of pressure. A defensive lob is usually higher and with a little underpin - open the racket and try to hit it high and deep. An offensive lob is lower and can be hit with topspin or a bit of underpin if you drive through the ball a bit. An offensive lob is usually hit when you aren't totally in scamper mode because it is more difficult.

Great video and insight. Notice your your backhand down the line you were raising your hands - showing your armpits.- more reliable! But cross court you bent your elbows. See you r recent video on double handed bh. Can you comment on this variation.
@2MinuteTennis
@2MinuteTennis 3 жыл бұрын
Happy to explain. That recent video was to address a common problem that players have that kills there consistency…just focusing on lifting their shoulders (showing armpits) will help them improve. On the cross court shots I was hitting, I had to bend my elbows a bit earlier to get the ball to dip sharply. That’s quite an advanced shot I was going for (cross court passing shots take quite a bit of skill due to the need for increased topspin). Think of it this was…a medical doctor talks to a patient (the patient is an alcoholic) and the doctor says the patient needs to quite drinking completely bc the alcohol is killing his body. Later that week you go out to dinner, and see that same doctor drinking wine with dinner. The doctor isn’t contradicting themselves. The patient had a problem but the doctor doesn’t. I don’t have a problem with backhand consistency. It’s my more reliable shot. So I can take “risks” in my technique to create different shots. As I mentioned in the video, I recommend the down the line passing shot. One of the reasons is the cross court is more difficult to execute. Ans that’s bc it requires a technique that most players struggle hitting reliably. Thanks!!

How hard can the topspin pro be struck? As in for practicing shots where I swing more through the ball. I'd be worried about knocking it over. Also how does it feel for sharp cross court shots?
