It's a nice meter design. I have the Diamond clone (or maybe, the original?) it's quite old but accurate on both scales. But mine doesn't have backlight.

Do these meters show SWR attained after using the transceiver's inbuilt tuner, or the raw SWR from the antenna before tuning? Thanks, Simon, M7WWX

It shows the actual VSWR, not the VSWR between internal tuner and transceiver.

I notice the AV-20 is rated from 30W, so presumably this can’t be used by Foundation Licence holders? Can you recommend a similar meter rated for lower power outputs? 73, M7WWX

To answer my own question for the benefit of others, my wife bought me the Av-20 for Christmas and although it's rated for 30-300W, it works perfectly using my 10W on low power mode. Really pleased with this purchase from W&S.

The first time I was on SSB, the power levels were bouncing like that on the meter, and I thought I had a bad rig.

In actual fact it could be said that they will be very reliable with age. Other types of meters rely on a pot to calibrate the SWR Meter, pots with age can suffer dirty contacts.

WHY DOES A WIRE CUT TO MATHEMATICAL LENGTH FOR 7 MHZ ON A EFHW ANTENNA WHEN PUT INTO A SWR METER IT INDICATES THE WIRE IS WAY TOO LONG

I have mentioned this in several videos. The end of a half wave is a high impedance and very sensitive to what it is connected to. So, the 49:1 UnUn appears as a load and pulls the antenna LF. That is why yiu have to shorten it. 73 Peter.
