Maybe I wasn’t clear in my video, but the X-Click has a lower profile off of the snare rim. It’s flatter and easier to play ergonomically.

The X-Click for sure. Love the sound of your kit.

Between the two, I agree with you that the "X-Click" wins hands-down. Great video! Although I love small kits, the only reason that I stay with the 14" diameter snare drum in varying depths, is the range of different sounds I can get from my stick while moving it in different positions and also allow some room for the other hand to use a brush on the same head in sweeping side-to-side motions for very soft latin beats. The 14" rim allows for so many more applications of the cross-stick.

I agree on all points. Yes a 14 has the right amount of real estate. I pack the 13 when I want a lightweight option to my heavier 14’s. Thanks always my friend 🤙

The X-Click sounds much better than the rim-riser. Oddly though, when I use my 12 inch snare on my ultra-portable kit, I can still execute good-sounding cross-stick with neither addition. I also manage somehow to find enough real-estate to do brush work on that tiny 12”. As far as the interference is concerned, I have committed to traditional grip so the far edge of the snare is now tilted slightly down away from my left hand and so it is always well out of the way. It is much harder on the wrist to play cross stick on a flat and level snare drum.
