Hi guys, just a quick disclaimer! There are many ways to start and finish threads, these are just my preferred ways. :)

Thank you Lisa for showing us this. You did a really nice job of explaining it and made it easy to understand. I love all of your videos and Daisy is adorable. Give her a hug and kiss from me and you have a great rest of the week. Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to do these videos.

Great video for beginners Lisa. I didn't know about the loop method until I started flosstube, its sew much neater than holding thread under the first few stitches like I had been doing twenty tears ago lol x

Thank you for taking the time to show so many different methods. I'm usually not this picky (especially when it comes to non-American accents), but the way you pronounced "lasso" had me rolling. In America it's "lass-O", not "la-sooo"... please don't take it personally, I thought it was adorable! The Loop is my favorite way but I do it slightly different... Just like you, I double the thread with the loop at the end, but then I come up from the bottom of the fabric and catch the loop with my index and middle finger, then spread the loop out wide, then pass my needle back through the fabric making sure it goes between my fingers. That way it catches the loop and tightens it around the thread. Then I just go on with my stitching.

Thank you! ❤ This is the first clearly voiced tutorial I've found for explaining, as well as a good showing on camera, of the starting methods. I will be putting this to use on my next big project which will be a gift. Thank you!

This is one of the clearest and most helpful tutorials I’ve seen! I’m just getting back into cross stitching after 20 years. One question I’ve had is how to start/end a thread if you are just doing one stitch? Some patterns have a stitch far away from others, and I’m hesitate to carry the thread across the back, especially on lighter fabric. Would you suggest the front loop method for this? And how to end it if it’s a single stitch, without other stitches around to pass the thread through? Thank you very for a very clear and concise tutorial!

I’ve always done a back loop for every stitch. And then the best way I found to end a stitch, whether it’s just one stitch away from any others or many stitches, is the pin stitch. I never have to flip my frame over or anything. It leaves the back very clean and knot free as well. Not that it matters what the back looks like, unless you’re entering competition or have OCD like I do 😊 (controversial topic, I know) I know you commented this a year ago and perhaps you already found a way but maybe it will help you or any others. I suggest the channel peacock and fig, it’s the best cross stitch channel on KZbin. This channel is great too, I just prefer peacock and fig. She shows simpler, and nice looking methods, has great tips and tricks and you can join her blog for free and get free patterns she designs. Hope this helped!

What if you only stitch one thread? You cannot real bury thread. The other way looked like parking not ending the thread?

I like to cross stitch. Should you cross stitch from left to right on a pattern and change colors as pattern changes or should you do a group of one color let's say three rows on top of each other. Like five stitches on top, three stitches in middle and seven stitches at bottom.

I notice that you do the completed cross stitch instead of doing half of the cross stitch and going back to finish the rest of the cross stitch. Does it matter which way you do the cross stitch? Love your video, just subscribed❤️

HI Debbie, thanks for subscribing! It doesn’t really matter how you do your stitches, this is just the way I’ve always done it. The only time where it does matter is it you’re using variegated floss and you would complete the full stitch to get the effect of the fancy thread xx

Hi Lisa, does this work if I’m using yarn or a thicker thread to cross stitch?
