My six and a half year old joined me while I was watching this and he kept saying "I can easily do that!" and "I can do that in a minute!" He was clearly interested in the project so I set him up with the die cut card, a large blunt needle and some wool. After a minute he said "This is harder than I thought!" but to his credit he is persevering !

Hi Jennifer, if you want to get a fuller look with your embroidery thread, split the six threads apart first and then put them back together before you thread the needle. This makes the thread look much better.

Thank you so much Jennifer for this video. After your last video on stitching cards I fell in love with your stitch cards, so much I asked my children for them as a Christmas gift. I now am in love with the square and circle stitch dies. I find it so relaxing and I can do it anywhere. And the receiver of these cards just goes nuts over them. Thank you so much for sharing your talent, I love everything you do. I get so excited when I check every morning to see if you have a new video out. You can imagine how excited I got when I saw a new stitching on cards video this morning. Thank you again Jennifer!

Great ideas and maybe you'll get people to take up stitching again. My daughter is at University studying Medicinal Chemistry and she doesn't really like any other crafts but she loves to cross stitch and create her own patterns. I think it works well with her scientific mind. It's great relaxation for her and she's taught a lot of other girls from her dorm too. Happy New Year.

Hey Jennifer! Thank you for all your awesome videos, I can watch you for hours. .....I gave my great niece a cross stitch card kit for Christmas. She is 8 years old and her Mimi (my sister-in-law) cross stitched back in the day, so I thought it would be neat for her to teach her and she could make the cards for her parents and grandparents. I too cross stitched back in the day and can't wait to do some of theses myself. I think I'm going to do my Christmas cards for next year. We'll see how that goes. 😉 Love you, God bless.

Here’s a tip on how to add a knot at the end of your thread when adding sequins or beads: once you threaded your thread, go to the end of your thread and loop it around your needle couple of times, run your finger down the loops and needle, all the way to the end of the thread and once there, a knot will form on its own. You can search for tutorial on how to do this on KZbin if my description is confusing. I found it to be so useful since I use needle and thread often. 👍🏼

Beautiful cards and fabulous dies. It's funny.....as a lefty, when I x-stitch, I work from left to right and as a righty I see you working from right to left. Either way, they always turn out beautifully. Great for Lila too and her eye-hand coordination! My 7 year old "faux" granddaughter Alex loves to test her hand at hand-stitching too. Thanks for sharing and I was so happy to see your video pop up in my feed tonight. Selfishly I've missed seeing more videos but am glad you've been able to take some extended time with your family. ~HUGS~ #kindnessmatters

Hi Maggie. I am right handed and stitch from left to right too. My Mom, who is left-handed, taught me how to cross-stitch when I was Lila's age.

That's funny Tracie. I use my right hand for many things (like scissors....can't cut lefty to save my life!) because I learned from my parents or older siblings. Makes us flexible!! Thanks for sharing. ~HUGS~

My daughter is a lefty but bats and golfs right handed. When she was little and set the table with our knives and forks we all got set left handed and her right handed brother eats left handed. I swapped my knife and fork for being right handed.

There is an easier way to start stitching. Cut a long piece of floss, 30" or longer. If 2 threads are needed, just use one strand and fold in half. Next, thread both ends into eye, this will create a loop. When you start your first stitch, pull far enough to bring your needle through the loop, pull ti complete the stitch. With doing this, no waste knot or running under required at the beginning. When doing this method, it will only work when even number of strands are required. I hope this helps.

@reginahay52117 жыл бұрын
Good idea. I learned to start from the front, leaving a very short tail, and doing a back stitch to hold the first stitch in place. On the second row, go over the tail to hide it under the next couple of stitches. Then you can cut it short and it is gone. Very similar to working threads into crochet or bead embroidery. My mother was taught that the back should look as good as the front. Lol. I'm 67 but not THAT persnickety.

Lucy Valles Orta Its easy! Just do one diagonal stitch in a row in one direction and then to finish the stitch return over the stitches you have already made diagonally again to form a cross. It doesnt matter which diagonal you use as long as they are all going the same in the direction and not mixed. Plenty of tutorials on youtube. Fun and simple to do.
