I love watching you and your family and your Bison. I moved to a small town of 1,500 in Freeman So. Dakota. Loved living there. A lot of cows. horses and pigs were around us. I could not believe the number of flies. When I saw a swarm of them on a pile of cow dung is when I absolutely hated flies more than ever, especially when they were in the house. I hate fly swatters, but give me a rolled-up newspaper and I get them every time. Now I live in Redding, CA, not as many flies, but every time I see one in the house, I think about my experience in So. Dakota. Blessings Dusty.

I guess Daniel wasn't joking this time when he said the Bison got out..... BUT, Dusty, I've commented before that your Bison look at you like a friend and that is why, as you said, you had an easy time getting them back where they belong. You and Marissa, Kevin and everyone else who helps you have learned that having gentle ways with even "huge" animals has paid off in the way they trust you and follow you. Glad no one was hurt and nothing was destroyed. Blessings to everyone!

I watch CTB and I watch AFH and what I've noticed is it seems like Daniel and Dusty have a bit of a competition going with their farm toys. One day Dusty will show his skid steer and then the next day Daniel will show his. I get a kick out of this! I think it's funny that they seem to be having a little friendly competition going with their farming toys, tractors etc. I'm not sure if they are doing this on purpose or it's just ideas for videos for each of them to show off their skid steers, tractors and atv's. I laugh my head off when I watch their videos where they look like they are competing. It's also funny that Daniel says his brother in law has had his welder for a year now then Dusty will make a video walking past the welder. Lol. Maybe I'm reading more into it but, if it's not being done on purpose, you guys sure fooled me. Hilarious nonetheless.

Each skunk has it's unique pattern of stripes the same way that each zebra or giraffe has it's own unique pattern of stripes and spots. We learned this a number of years ago when my youngest sister stupidly started putting out scraps from dinner outside in a protected area near our kitchen windows next to the kitchen table. Pretty soon she had 6 different skunks, a ground hog and a raccoon who came by every evening after dinner to see what she had left for them they never sprayed, but they let the other animals know that they had to wait their turn to eat whatever they didn't want. Each skunk had a very unique pattern of stripes and there was even an all white one. On Halloween my parents generally had hundreds of children who came to the house and they were literally 6 feet away from the skunks and they completely ignored the children. Eventually Dad made her stop feeding them. They never sprayed anyone during the time she was feeding them.

I'd love to at least drive by the Ponderosa and see what I can see from the road. I'm in Tulsa and my husband and I are looking to take a little day road trip soon. Would love it if the ranch ever becomes open for visitors. I think it'd be awesome to come in and pay a fee or a donation to be able to visit. At least donate money for a bag of cubes. Lol. I think a lot of supporters and followers of CTB would come from miles away just to see the bison a bit closer than what we can on our computer screens. I sure hope visitation becomes a reality one of these days.

So great to see the love and respect for these beautiful animals that feed us. ❤️ The skunks in the hole were cute, too. Thankful we don't have smella-vision! I hope you get those flies under control. I think that's one of the biggest challenges on most any farm. Have you tried biological controls, such as parasitic nematodes, parasitic wasps, or other fly parasites? Arbico, Organic Cowboy, and other companies sell biological controls for flies (& and other unwanted pests). These don't harm bees, lacewings, praying mantids, animals, or people, and can make a major difference in reducing fly popumantis, Perhaps they might even trade some exposure on KZbin for a treatment for your farm? I don't know, as I'm not affiliated with any of those companies, but I have used biological controls, and they have made a huge difference. I'd cut the cockabur weeds when they are small, so they can't go to seed. Grab the seed pods and dispose of them. They are a tough weed to control. The Siberian variety is medicinal, but they tend to be rather " invasive" (I don'tknow if they are classified as an invasive species, yet perhaps they should be?), and can lower crop yields as well. Deer eat them, but seem to prefer other plants. You might consider trying to use some vinegar in areas where they are prolific. Nice farm, BTW! All the best, from California!

Dusty, you need a proper farm truck: one that's beat to all heck. A jalopy of a truck. A good ol' International. This one here is your "Sunday" truck. Dunbar keeps me laughing, even when he's being good.

If you really want something to keep your big guy entertained you could put a brush (street sweeper brush or car wash brush) for them to rub on. Push a nice fiberglass post in the ground and slip that on, guaranteed it will be there favorite toy.

If those baby skunks are so young there eyes are shut then they are probably nursing so why drive them so far away from where mum left them ? They are totally defenceless if they are blind surely ? They will be literally sitting prey ! 😮If I’m wrong then I apologise of course , isn’t there some kind of rescue nearby that would at least feed them till they are old enough to be released .I’m not a farmer as you can probably tell and maybe it’s just farm life , I’m just soft hearted and don’t like the thought that they may have suffered a long death starving to death !

I could never sell them for meat especially when they’re all so used to people and take food from your hands, i’d rather sell them as bulls to live his life with the female buffalo, it would be different if they had no contact with them.
