Cross Your Heart/Crucifix Held Close (Haunted Castle/Portrait of Ruin Cover/Arrangment)

It's Halloween for another hour as I type this; figured I'd upload one more for good measure.
I like this one alot. I'm glad it was used again in a more recent game, considering Haunted Castle is, from what I can tell, not well liked among Castlevania games.

I'll admit it - Haunted Castle is the one game in the series I haven't even tried to play, but I do think it counts as part of it. The... let's just say "passionate", shall we? The *passionate* discussion it engenders when it comes up left me taken aback. About all I know is it was an arcade game and the music kicks ass! Portrait of Ruin, on the other hand, is my favorite of the DSvanias... so you can imagine the teakettle-like noise I made upon seeing KZbin hadn't notified me of *this* getting uploaded *either*, I'm sure! I wish I knew enough of music theory to be able to say in precise terms what I love about this arrangement. There's an echo on the lead melody at points, but it never feels empty. There's a sort of buzzing tone to several of the lines here (not just my speakers, I checked) that fills things out... it's a well-crafted whole song.

Haunted castle is a bitch of a game. But that's to be expected: it was an arcade game designed to take your money. Doesn't change the fact that the music is incredible. Julius Belmont's theme from Aria of Sorrow is another tune from haunted castle bridged into Heart of Fire from Castlevania 1, and that's the one I'm going to finish polishing up after i get the Bloodlines pack ready for use with the game.
