Lyrics:
Looking back at me I see
That I never really got it right
I never stopped to think of you
I'm always wrapped up in
Things I cannot win
You are the antidote that gets me by
Something strong
Like a drug that gets me high
What I really meant to say
Is I'm sorry for the way I am
I never meant to be so cold
To you I'm sorry about all the lies
Maybe in a different light
You could see me stand on my own again
Cause now i can see
You were the antidote that got me by
Something strong like a drug that got me high"

As a black kid from the hood. I received this song on a psp demo disc 15 years ago and this turned me out to rock, metal, and alternative from that day forward.i grew up in the Milwaukee,WI professional symphony orchestra first chair bass, 12 years. Music is universal and that’s my first love and my main outlet. I play 4 instruments, and do 4 genres of music, which I write and compose. I know it doesn’t matter on skin color, I’m just saying, this song is the reason I fell in love with music out of the stereotype

Her mom and her dad where absent parents and I was the most stable person in her life she also lied about having a sexual relationship with a guy from Texas that came up to Michigan I hoped things would change if I stayed but things only escalated and got worse in the final nail in the coffin was in April 2020 when After a hole year of being a thing she called me and said she needed money and I had already paid her to buy my phone a 200 Dollar punchers but she wanted more money and called me on my phone to beg me for more money and I said no and goodbye before I hung up the phone she then called me cold in a text message

Listened to it 1000 times and still never gets old. I think this was the rock song with the biggest impact of the mid 2000s this, broken, my immortal, headstrong or bring me to life. There was so many great bands that came out at basically the same time stained, Linkin park, Korn, that era then came 3 days grace, followed by Crossfade, trapt, Seether, evanescence, Shinedown and of course breaking Benjamin. So much talent came out in that era but the ones that really shined to me was BB, Crossfade, Seether and 3 days grace as far impact and the amount of hits they put out. Crossfade could have been a long lasting band as far as making hits if they hadn't lost the back up singers the guy in this song and then the backup from colors and so far away. Still hugely successful

Love when he's all up in her face playing that solo, then turns away -- at THAT particular moment he definitely meant to be so cold LMFAO

Its like a metaphor. He understands and knows that what he is doing is wrong and he is sorry for that.. it's like when your addicted to a drug. You feel bad your doing this thing that you can't stop. He was aware that what he was doing was hurting her, he than felt bad and regretted it later on, and is sorry for the way he is. He never meant to be so cold. Lmao. You know when your just in that angry mindset or just having one of those days and than when your not feeling like that you look back and don't even know why you were like that in the first place or you regretted doing something while feeling like that. It's like that man.

When this song was regularly on the radio, I loved it. I was 22. At this time my mother suddenly passed away. I kept hearing this song in the following weeks. I still love the song, but sometimes it takes me back to a terrible time in my life and that just sucks.
