I already have the Model 1.4 and I'm absolute amazed with the sound, and I agree that is a really pleasure to use. One thing that just a few people mention is the size, this mixers are very, very small, specially the Model 1.4, for me as a mobile DJ I will say that was one of the main reason why I bought it, and I can not be more happy. I replaced my old but absolutly trusty Rane Empath, another 100% analog and timeless piece of kit.

The size kinda works against it for me :( I have a large mixer and have grown so spoiled by the size of it... but I still want a Model1 super badly. Ugh.

Honestly, for a lot less money, and going with a couple of inexpensive outboard devices, you can do the same-even do decent mastering-on-a-budget.

thank you for giving Hawtin for breaking this idea to the masses. I spin the same way, with samplers, turntables, records, live instruments, mixers, ,all at the same time.. I just need a crossfader so it doesnt work as a primary DJ mixer because i do away more than blending...
@detroitologist3 жыл бұрын
This works for dj's playing clips from Ableton, where hardware matches the software. It is such a great setup and great sounding mixer, filters sound so nice compared to A+H with that harsher resonance and pop. Not sure I would like the eq but never tried one like it. Maybe 4 band eq was not necessary if you already have stripped down a clip to the frequencies you want, which is how Ritchie does it. I use line level faders and crossfader so a bummer it was omitted. I prefer to keep the track playing the way it was intended because that is why I got the track in the first place. Eq, filter, effects, and faders are more of a tool for mixing 2 tracks or 3 together. It's more traditional "third song" technique where Ritchie moved away from that in the late 90's and has "played differently" since then. It's kind of like having a whammy bar on a guitar, Strat vs. Les Paul, some need it and some can live without it.

@_LOGA_Ай бұрын
Both have totally different ways on how they work. The Model 1 and 1.4 like the xones process your signal analog, so there is no conversion from your digital signal by the players to analog then back to digital for the mixer and then back to analog again for the PA, so you're saving on atleast one D/A conversion (most people connect their players via rca to the mixers and not digital, so you're most likely saving on two conversions). Also if you prefer a more default EQ System the Model 1 and 1.4 are not for you anyways and you should make a choice between xone and pioneer.

So when you say an unrivalled sound quality, is the sound on these better than the amazing quality of Allen & Heath Xone 92 & 96 industry accepted best sound quality?

6:12 I’d be curious if you can chain the mixer with a Denon X1850 (using the Denon mixer as your effects channel.)
@aaronw45373 жыл бұрын
You could definitely do that. You just should not use effect processors that add latency to the signal (like e.g. the RMX 1000 from Pioneer) which will result in phasing. Since the X1850 has a wet/dry knob I assume this would not be a problem.
@reddepo3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronw4537 Nice! So, which would be the preferred master mixer? Would you say the X1850 into the Model 1 then Model 1 to the speakers or visa versa?
@aaronw45373 жыл бұрын
@@reddepo If you want to use the Denon as an effects unit then the Model1 would be the Master Mixer. I would however strongly advice against such a setup since there are dedicated effects units that are cheaper, smaller and more capable than the X1850.
@reddepo3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronw4537 I see, well, I am trying to leverage using my X1800 actually with the Model 1 together.
@aaronw45373 жыл бұрын
@@reddepo Well, if space/portability is not an issue and you already have both Mixers, you would connect your audio sources to the Model1, the AUX 1 of the Model1 to a line input of the X1800 via a cinch to 1/4" jack stereo cable and the master out of the X1800 to the RETURN 1 input of the Model 1 (or whatever free channel on the Model 1 you want to use as a return channel). You can then send the signal of any channel on the Model1 to the X1800 by using the AUX1 knob on top of the channel strip and manipulate that part of the signal on the X1800. If you do not have a Model1 yet, make sure you can try first that this works to your liking before you make an irreversible purchase! If there is somehow latency or any other issue it will not be fun.

While I agree with it being weird, Whats weirder, A CDJ with no CD, Or DJ's mixing 2 signals from 2 turntables together? LOL. As for the fader, It was literally invented just for scratching. Back in the days they all had sharp cuts. And over time DJ's started using them for smoother blends. Its just technology advancing. One day we will be looking at a lot of modern day DJ setups as a weird anachronism.
