THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.... OK CDJs are 3 times as expensive and take up 3 times as much space. It's just a dick comparison. sorry but that's the truth
@ikhebergeen115 күн бұрын
@@cyberinstinction Well, it’s not about ‘penis size,’ but more about personal preference and workflow. Standalone players and a mixer offer a different experience compared to a controller with a laptop, especially in terms of feel, layout, and being less reliant on a computer. Plus, higher-end DJ mixers often have built-in soundcards of much better quality, which can make a big difference in sound clarity and overall performance. In the end, it’s all about what works best for you and your style of mixing. But hey, if someone wants to flex with their gear, let them, right?

That tip about not relying on performance features on controllers was my favorite! I had been thinking I was underutilizing my controller cause I wasn’t using all the different features but this makes me feel more confident that what I’m learning will be easier to transfer over whenever I end up upgrading
@originalrockhead3 ай бұрын
Despite all the performance features available, the key to any good DJ set has been and always will be music selection and smooth transition between tracks. If you focus most on that the performance features become just a little fun extra to use occasionally
@dubotomist4 күн бұрын
@@originalrockhead i would fundamentally disagree, taking stems as an example, when slamming multiple riddim tracks together sometimes the drums clash but the leads dont, so to get a good double you have to remove the drum stem from the track. if cdjs cant do this they are automatically inferior in my opinion, theres no reason they cant incorporate these features into the newer models, pioneer/alpha theta are just slow dripping features into their products that denon has had at a lower price for longer. the sc6000 (denons newest) is a standalone that has almost all the same functionality as their controllers. an sc6000 can play two tracks at once, something that seems like a no brainer to incorporate in 2025. if you go the cdj route and want to transition from a double to another double its going to cost you 10k for new gear, without the mixer. my mc7000 was $700 with a flight case. what are we doing lol the sc6000 is half the price of a new cdj and has more functionality and less problems. heres a copy pasta from a reddit post asking why go the denon route when cdjs are the club standard: "I have sc6000s, x1850 and a prime 2. When I have to play on cdjs I just suffer through the rekordbox stuff and deal with it Usually I try to just bring my own gear though whenever possible because there's so many things on Pioneer that now seem really counter intuitive (no exfat format on nxs2s, so many file types not supported, stupid locations of some buttons etc) Some people moan about engine software but I find it's analysis is on a par with rekordbox and for me is bug free and a hell of a lot faster to export, especially as I have 500gb ssds installed in the decks Then there is engine lighting/soundswitch and now the nanoleaf integration. This allows me to push to a completely new level for both mobile gigs and at my local club. Out of all the lighting software I have used it gives the best results by a country mile. I've been gigging weekly for 18 months with this gear now and it has been absolutely flawless" in my humble opinion, not just cdjs, but all pioneer/alpha theta products are a rip off. innovative features seem to be gatekept so that they can milk more money from you for the new product with features that denon has had for years at a lower price. i mean making sure that you need 4 cdjs to actually mix 4 tracks is absurd. everyone complains about these quirks and troubles with cdjs and how inconvenient they are, it seems like a no brainer for the industry standard to change, especially if its cheaper and has more functionality. crazy to me that anyone would give this company more money lmao its literally the same marketing strategy that apple uses, think about how theyre getting hype on features android users have had for years lololol

My favorite tip was about the difference in streaming integration between DJ controllers and CDJs. I didn't realize that you can't directly put music from a streaming service like SoundCloud onto a USB and use it with CDJs. This is such an important point because it shows how CDJs are still primarily geared towards offline music management, whereas controllers offer more flexibility with streaming. It's a good reminder to always have a solid offline library ready, and to know the strengths and limitations of the equipment you're using. Great insight!
