I'm perplexed by the announcers concerning the deadlift weight numbers.There were many examples of totally made up numbers that were all up to 100 lbs or so higher than the weights on the bar added up too, based on my lying eyes. For instance, at time 35:17, Toomey is announced to be lifting 415 lbs. Yet, I counted the weights on the 45 lb bar to be no more than 140 lbs on each side, totaling 280 lbs, for a total deadlift weight of 325 lbs. What's the 415 lbs claim all about? The world must stand still until this outrageous discrepancy is resolved.
@seanmallory12093 жыл бұрын
There are skinny blue 45s ("calibrated plates") in between the larger bumper 45s, You can see them in the 45 lb plate piles next to each platform. That is where your missing 90 lbs. is at. No clue why they used those, but they were given for the athletes.
4 жыл бұрын
Katrin that was not a strict press. You can clearly see some hip drive ...

In the gym you call these people ego lifters: doing the absolute max while not giving a shit fuck about form. ALL crosfitters are like this. Somehow the men show some proper form sometimes
@felixdeboer58143 жыл бұрын
@@royroos8036 ego lifters?😂 these people are at the world championships of their sport. I understand ego lifters in a gym, always lifting too much to show off. this is a world championship for the BEST crossfitter in the world, of course you are going to sacrifice some form for weight, they probably trained uncountable amounts of hours for this moment to just think nah my form won’t be good on the 350 just let me do 320.
@joshuaphillips89583 жыл бұрын
I do cross fit. I'll just say that yes the form for most people is terrible, but there is a level of control that every athlete has, but chooses to listen to their coach. The coaches aren't the best lol as they try to push you to do too much weight too early without the knowledge of the proper form. That's why I quit the membership and just purchased dumbbells, kettle bells, half rack, bumper plates, rings, all of it to do it on my own. I still do cross fit, just at my house. I'd strongly recommend everyone does that.
@teganchristianson99354 жыл бұрын
Why is the form so bad? After seeing this it's not surprising that they are all plagued with injuries throughout the year.
@angelguevara77303 жыл бұрын

@anthonyproffitt53413 жыл бұрын
They don’t specialize in powerlifting as do powerlifters. I’m sure if they had more involved you’d find some of the other women not as fit are stronger with better form. These 5 ladies made it to the top 5 because they are great endurance and body weight athletes. Tia Toomey an international level weight lifter and probably doesn’t spend a ton of time powerlifting. Strongman has a lot of guys with horrible form on powerlifting events.
