As my visa for Myanmar expired I headed back towards China. My plan was to go to Tibet and then cross the border to Nepal. Before doing that I had to reach China as soon as possible.
This was all filmed long before covid 19.
A big Thank You to everybody who let me awkwardly film them :)
Filmed handheld with the Sony RX 100 V.
The long Road (TlR) is a journey from Germany all the way to Nepal, through the middle east, following the old silk road, China and South-East Asia. The whole journey will be overland (no planes, UFOs or portals) and put together into short videos on this channel :)
Greetings,
Georg

Really enjoyed this episode for the sheer craziness of how much all-out travel you're doing. I'm a late-comer to this series so apologies if it's been answered elsewhere but I'm amazed by how much ad hoc transport (and accomodation) you seemed to be getting, how did you work out how to get places? Looked like a fair bit of getting lifts from people somehow, and finding public transport somehow where possible? Or maybe the former is just a form of public/paid transport I'm not familiar with in the West.

Thanks :) Well it’s different in every country. Thailand’s infrastructure is great. You’re most certain to arrive at your destination even if you didn’t book all the tickets in advance. In other countries, Laos eg. I just started walking after I crossed the border and did some hitch hiking. Witch worked out well. In Iran I did the same thing. It’s sometimes kinda risky, in terms of finding an accommodation. But so far I’ve only slept a hand full of days without a proper accommodation. Which is fine when it’s not cold/raining.

@@georg782 Thanks for the reply, it sounds amazing. I'd feel stressed trying to hitchhike like that in case nobody would give lifts and I end up stuck in the middle of nowhere by nightfall, or end up somewhere dangerous without accommodation. Maybe I think it's more likely to happen than it really is though. I'll have to go back and watch the Iran video(s), thanks. :) Really glad it's been working out so well for you; thanks for the videos, I look forward to the next ones!
