I don’t know how you keep all the trails in order, we started in fro and ended up at aaoa nothing really marked very good

We got some great advice from a rider named Steve. He pointed out the mountain to the south and the mountain to the North. His advice was "Just stay between the mountains. Ride in one direction in the morning and the other direction in the afternoon!" In between is where the fun is! But, honestly, if you really want to know exactly where you are, then, download an app called Maprika. The app has an option to download maps close by. The FRO maps won't appear until you are in the riding areas.

I don’t understand how you did that did do the trails from fro and AOAA connect?
@zachandcarteradventures48524 жыл бұрын
Since we posted the video, we learned that AOAA does not like you to leave AOAA property and ride on other connecting trails. (see the first comment on this video from AOAA). So, no, there are no connecting trails. We just like exploring and found a number of connecting trails. We found that some trails had a Famous Reading Outdoors marker telling you that you were entering FRO trails and needed a pass. However, the easy-to-find connecting trails were blocked. Our Mapzika route in the last few seconds of the video shows you the actual path we took the day of this ride. Someone has probably blocked that route by now. The North West corner of the West side of AOAA is the best riding at AOAA. Spend some time exploring that area and you might find a connecting trail. Best bet is to get a pass for both AOAA and FRO and just trailer to the spot where you feel like riding that day.

@@zachandcarteradventures4852 are there any hill climbs on the west side ? I rode at aoaa Saturday but didn’t cross over to the west side.
@zachandcarteradventures48524 жыл бұрын
@@dmoretz525 On the West side, near the west border there is a place we call the playground with some hill climbs. They are smaller than Coal Hill, but still fun to play on. To find them, look at Mapzika, on the far left side, there is a large pond. Find the pond, and you'll find the playground (South of the pond). Have fun!

Any way you know the number of the trails to get to coal hill
@DoberKingKennel4 жыл бұрын
Or know the,last trail you hit to get to coal hill
@zachandcarteradventures48524 жыл бұрын
@@DoberKingKennel Best bet is to look closely at the West side AOAA map at 14:18, then the Reading May at 14:22. After we posted this video, we learned that AOAA doesn't want you to cross to Famous Reading Outdoors/Coal Hill. So, there is no specific trail to cross over. If you are persistent, you might explorer the far West border for a trail. Be careful, at the AOAA border, huge holes are dug in the road after dirt pile that were made to block access. Don't let the dirt piles tempt you into jumping them. Check first.

additional fee to ride on FRO property in Trevorton?
@zachandcarteradventures48525 жыл бұрын
Famous Reading Outdoors sells an annual pass or permit for $175/year. No discounts for additional family members like AOAA. Here's a link to the FRO permit page: readingoutdoors.com/annual-permits

How long was the ride to coal hill?
@zachandcarteradventures48524 жыл бұрын
Maybe a couple of hours to ride across the AOAA West side, then, to get to Coal Hill. Heads up, since we made this video, we've learned that AOAA doesn't like riders to leave AOAA property to FRO/Coal Hill property.

I'm looking to plan a trip up from the DC area. would you recommend AOAA or FRO based on your experiences riding in the area?
@zachandcarteradventures48525 жыл бұрын
For the first time in the area, I'd recommend AOAA. After the long drive, you'll know that you are in the right place once you arrive! FRO trails are less rocky, but, they are not labeled as well. Once you get to know the area, try FRO. Also, for a one day trip, AOAA will be cheaper. An AOAA trail pass is around $25, but FRO sells only an annual pass for around $200. Download an app called Maprika. It's a map/tracking app that will help you find your way around AOAA. You can tap "other maps near by" and finds some FRO trail maps once you get into the area. The riding is pretty good at either place! BTW, our favorite side is the West side of AOAA, we recommend riding it in the morning. Then, East in the afternoon.
