We can use Whitebeard as an example since he was also sick during Marineford Arc and others that knew him well called him “weak” when he was still seen by us and many others as The Strongest.

I'm sorry Oda, no amount of backstory will ever redeem Orochi with all the atrocities he committed. May explain his actions but he could and should still die in a ditch somewhere and I won't even think twice about it. Prime Roger and Whitebeard casually splitting the sky as a greeting though? I think I speak for everyone when I say we NEED more of that! And yes, Shanks was always left handed so he gave up his dominant arm AND still managed to be recognized as an Emperor of the Sea. The unicorn of One Piece is the definition of badass.

Orochi is exactly how you have said in the past about people who suddenly obtain a lot of money: It doesn't change you, it just shows who you truly are. Roger and Whitebeard's clash is epic every time. I love that they fought for almost four days straight. The stamina on both teams. Maybe it's noticed in the full reaction, but Oden and the group were in Jaya. Nice to see that place was always a den of thieves and cutthroats. It's been a while, but remember back on Drum Island, we learned the rumour through Luffy overhearing people talking that 'people from snowy countries don't sleep, or they will die.'

Since we didn't see anything of Orochi's personality before meeting the old hag meaning we don't know what kind of person he was before that point in time, I don't think his flashback was meant to invoke sympathy for him. Rather, I see it as a part of Oda showing how he got to where he ended up.

Shanks and buggy were only kids and they were squaring up against adult members of whitebeard pirates. Even teech is older than them at that fight, also seeing prime whitebeard running and jumping proves why his old version is needed during the marineford war, cuz he could done a much more damage in his prime tham his older version. And teech not sleeping I think because he comes from an icy island where it's so cold that people who sleeps could end up die, i don't know if it's real, but I just read that somewhere before, and for me it makes sense.
