We know that we have to show a plane/bus ticket proving that we will leave Colombia, but we still don't have one :D Do you know if we can buy online bus tickets to Ecuador in advance and if yes, which site would you recommend? Hey guys, I'm glad it's been helpful for you! When it comes to buying tickets online in Colombia, it's a mess. There is a system for online booking (find your ticket on redbus.co and then you can try on the website of the bus company), but it's usually not working with a foreign card. We bought all of our tickets at the bus station. To get into the country, we always use "fake" onward tickets (they're actually real, you just rent it for about 10 USD) or we just book a refundable flight ticket and cancel it when we get to the country (do your research before buying $1000 ticket you won't be able to return :D)

@@storiesalongtheroad Yes, we have heard about those "fake" tickets :D However, some people told us that they are recognizable and won't do us the work at the airport. But since you managed to use them with no problem, we guess we can give it a try. Can you recommend a proper site for renting these kinds of tickets?

@@CosmicGiggle Hey, I'm sorry for the late answer. It might be too late for you, but I'll still write it for other people. These tickets are not really fake and they 100% work. The deal is, the company you pay those $12 or something actually books those tickets for you, with your name and everything, so they are 100 % legit. You have the number, the flight, and the time - they can check this at the airport. After 48 hours, the company would cancel those tickets and get a full refund. You can do this without the middleman and save those $12. You just need to be really sure it's refundable (it should be by the law when it's to or from the US, so that's where we usually book with Expedia and never have a problem).

What about the vaccination requirement? Did you need a yellow fever vaccine?

Hey, we were only asked about the Covid vaccine back in 2022. We have the yellow fever but if I'm not mistaken, you're only required to have it if you enter Ecuador from Brazil, Democratic Republic of the Congo, or Uganda. Hope this is helpful! :)

Thanks for putting up this video. I am also doing the same journey and wanted to know if you were able to buy Cali to Ipiales bus ticket online? Checking Express Boliviano website and I am unable to get any journey! Is it possible to just go to Cali bus station and queue for the bus ticket for the same day?

Hey, I'm sorry for the delayed answer. No, it wasn't possible to buy online for us with a European card. Usually, only local cards work in Colombia for online payments. We bought it a couple days ahead when we got there, but it was possible to buy the same day as well (better sooner than last minute though). Enjoy your trip!
