Ever notice how seasickness seems to evaporate away when you're scared and busy handling the boat? When non-sailors ask me if there's any cure for seasickness I tell them, "Yes. Terror." Well, that and sailing all the time. But sometimes it's not possible to sail on the ocean multiple times per week in order to keep your sealegs and you just have to tough it out. Another great video. I look forward to the next chapter in this saga.

You always leave me impressed Erik! One thing- consider installing an Antal mainsheet track and slider system. I have one and it allows me to reef under load either upwind or downwind. Important when the main needs to come down quickly in big wind. Hope the next leg is less demanding.

Hey Erick, being single handed most of the time, have you ever thought of equipping the boat with an electric winch, specifically for the main. Is that a possible add on? That would make sailing easier, not to mention safer. "Crossing the North Sea - Norway to Orkney Islands," is an intriguing escapade, cant wait for follow-up episodes.

My boat is very similar design and age to yours and I wonder how unsafe I would feel in a modern boat with no transom, standing less than a meter from the back and inviting every following wave into the cockpit.

Great video as always! I remember we wanted to do a short sailing trip that exact same weekend as you did your crossing to Orkeny Islands. The weather here in Belgium was similar as what you encountred. Since we arn't experienced sailers we decided not to sail and that was the best decision. Friends did set out to sail and their foresail got ripped and somme of the rigging on their boat got badly dammaged. Always love to see how you handle these situations when yiu are out in the middle of the nort sea ;-) I hope one day to gain enough expierience (and to be able to buy myself a sailboat) to make similar adventures as you. You re a true inspiration!
