The out-of-sync, low quality video is a deal breaker. The Pixel 6a costs half as much and has much better cameras, with in-sync 4K 60fps video. The wooden toy hanging from the car mirror is scary.

how does it deal with being dropped flat on its screen onto solid surfaces?

Well, it handled being dropped on stones quite well. I would say, dropping on a flat surface, it should handle same way.
