Just to clarify, they would ONLY add together if they are of the same type LP or HP AND they have the same cut-off frequency.

I got a question for you man…I actually have my Pioneer set to the same cut off HP’s and LP on my JL Audio RD900/5 which is a 5 channel amp. Except the low pass is turned off on my head unit. Just sounds better that way. Is there any other way I can adjust this. It sounds good, but I’m just not getting much bass out of my sub

Thinking of stacking crossovers for my tweeters to act as a safety measure for a situation like mentioned in the video where my head units settings get erased I won't fry my tweeter. 12 on headunit and 12 on amp to make a 24 slope that I want to run anyway.

Just use one , I use my deck to control subs , I tried to use both and it sounds terrible , I now have my headunit at 63hz 18db slope and fosgate amp at 260hz 12db (as high as it goes) slope and I hear everything in my dual 12 basswedge jl audio

Great vid! So if my sub amp is 24db and my componant amp is 12db should i run both amps full range and filter through the headunit? which i guess is gonna be the same slope, not sure the slope as sony doesnt state on the manual. ✌

OK so I should set my head unit to *through* and adjust my crossovers on my amps... Right now I have both my head unit crossovers active and Amp active. What would i set my Amp to if I only wanted to use head unit?

This was helpful! The pioneer headunit in my wifes car is more capable than I thought. It has LPF and HPF. Trying to use both front and rear channels to drive front 2-way without a crossover, and use external amp for sub. No rear speakers.
@face2face11
@face2face11 5 жыл бұрын
if by 2-way you mean coaxial, then no. if you mean component sets ( separate midrange drivers and tweeters, then also no. (you would need a BPF for the mids, and HPF for the tweets)

So if I have a active crossover should I leave my HU on full pass, and then use the external crossover and the leave my amp on full pass? Do I want to have a higher db slope or a lower db slope?

Hi. You said in one of your videos that if your amp is producing crossover that you should not use your decks built in cross overs for you lp or hp. So is that just for your subs or does that go for your door speakers as well. I have a 1000 crunch amp going to my 4 6.8 kicker ds series speakers and was wondering should I use the the built in amp crossover on the deck or just let the amp run it. Thank you.

i have a question. just recently my pioneer 12 inch 1400w dual coil has been making different bass sounds. whenever i listen to music it will hit the correct bass, then start making a different sound over the current beat to a song. Even when i turn the subwoofer off through my stereo, it will still make "bass" noise for about 30 seconds then shuts off. I am currently running a Pioneer 760 watt amplifier to my subwoofer. What would be the reason this is happening? thanks
@sparda9060
@sparda9060 7 жыл бұрын
Its your car battery being drained too much and the amplifier shuts off your subs so it doesn't shut your car off. When its makes different bass noise, it might be due to distortion or not enough power to the subs or the subs is overheating.

Great video!! I have a Kenwood 893s, DSP Pro MK2, Zapco 150.6 on Brax 3-way components active, where do I set the radio and amp to begin tuning the DSP? From the 3 areas I can tune (radio, amp, DSP) I feel like 2 of those need to be constant and the DSP should be used to completely tune everything. So, what baseline do I set for the HU and amp? I am getting the pioneer AVH-4200NEX Headunit, NVX JAD800.4 interior amp, and a Kicker KX1600.1 sub amp. The Pioneer NEX series has one of the best sound tuning capabilities including its "Auto EQ" feature. The NVX and Kicker amp have great tuning capabilities built into the amp as well. But if I wanted to utilize the NEX features, I leave both amps in full range mode and allow the NEX to utilize its Auto EQ? Meaning, the NEX will supply corrected signals to the amps thus providing the auto EQ frequencies?

www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm ^tells you the breaking point for each size wire plus lots of other fun info you will need to know for wire sizing. Also you need to learn ohms law. Ohms law will teach you how electricity functions so you can do the math to properly design and plan out your system. Word to the wise: don't expect your Honda accords 80 amp alternator to be able to generate 2500 watts. Once you learn ohms law you will understand why. www.the12volt.com ^great technical resource for car audio enthusiasts. If you have no desire to learn this information pay a professional to do it for you, you will thank yourself later. Hope this helps!👍✌️

+Nathaniel Renner thanks for the information, so would you suggest a new alternator or another battery?
@nathanielrenner9540
@nathanielrenner9540 8 жыл бұрын
+Zach Stoltenberg always go alternator if you can. Ohms law will teach you that amps x volts = watts, also that watts divided by volts = amps. You also have to be aware of the efficiency of your equipment when planning your system as no piece of equipment is 100% efficient, in fact the best are 80% or so efficient, meaning your only getting 80% of the power you put in back out as power for your subwoofer, the rest is lost as heat, which is why, simplifying of course, amplifiers produce heat. So say you wanted to have the capacity to produce 2500 watts right? You know that your running a 12 volt system, so divide, 2500/12= 208. In theory you would need at least the capacity for 208 amps. Then say you purchased the best 2500 watt amp money can buy, but it's still only 80% efficient. So divide 208 by .8 which is roughly 260 amps. So just for your subwoofer you would need 260 amps of power, then factor in the factory electronics on your car (lights, sensors, fans,) which is typically 50%
@nathanielrenner9540
@nathanielrenner9540 8 жыл бұрын
Of the factory alternators available power, lets say 50 amps or so, then your looking at 310 amps total capacity you would need to properly run your equipment on a 12 volt system. Batteries are a very good thing to have but only if the alternator is up to par with keeping them charged. Do your alternator first, then worry about batteries. You will need to size all of the wires according to how many amps your pushing through that wire, plus the length of the wire, all found on the above mentioned website. Trust me, learn ohms law, learn the basics, fuck up a few 100 dollar setups before you jump straight to the big boy shit. No offense intended but do your research if your going to invest generous portions of your finances towards your stereo. Hope this helps!👍✌️

Okay so from what I'm understand I should put my crescendo BC3500 & 800.4 to full range and then just use my pioneer deck 4700BS crossover settings ? But idk what slope the sub should be at ? I go for around 80hz on my sub (single 15 ported )
@tammyforbes2101
@tammyforbes2101 8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't turn off the crossover on your sub cause if for some reason your radio resets and your crossover could be off on your deck and fry your subs before you realize what's going on. If anything I would turn the crossover on the amp on and set the radio to about 80hz. Now your 4 channel I'm assuming your running highs mids with it and I would on run 80hz and up through it. That's what I usually do I play the sub up to 80 and the mids down to 100-80 just depending on how it sounds.

Luckily for him it was under warranty and they rebuilt it for him but he learned his lesson. Subs don't like 10k htz.

If you want to do full range but don't have the luxury of a switch to do so, simply turn your infrasonic (subsonic) filter to its lowest setting, and your low pass filter to its highest setting. Bam! All frequencies now come through full range.

it starts cutting off the unwanted frequencies at a given point. for instance if you set your subwoofer crossover at 80hz with a 24db slope it will start rolling off those unwanted frequencies from 80hz and above at a rate of 24 db per octave. therefore your high and mid level music wont play through your subwoofer.

@nathanielrenner9540
@nathanielrenner9540 8 жыл бұрын
+Josue Valadez you have to be careful when selecting different slopes as well because they can affect where you should be setting your infrasonic (subsonic) filter especially for your subwoofer. Example: a 12db per octave slope on your infrasonic filter would require you to set the filter to no more than 3 or 4 hz off of the tuning frequency of the port (provided you elected a ported enclosure for your setup) where as a 24db per octave slope would require your infrasonic filter to be set one half octave below the tuning frequency of the port. the12volt.com is a great car audio resource, shit loads of technical info to help you out with just about anything. Hope this helps!
