You and your family are seriously educating folks that raising livestock is not at all simple. Back in the 70s, I can remember a time in Northern Kentucky when the winter got so bad the Ohio River froze over and we were making regular trips to the pond to use an axe to bust a hole in the ice so the cattle could drink. You never know what is gonna happen next.

Keep moving that feed closer to the working chute, every day a few feet closer. Maybe put some hay beyond that. When we had to worm our horses, they didn't like it much. We saw a trainer say to put apple sauce in the empty paste wormer tubes and give it to the horses every day. After feeding applesauce for a couple weeks, my little daughter would just wave that dewormer tube, and the horses would come-a-runnin to get their applesauce. But on wormer day, they got wormer first, then applesauce when the job was done. Worked like a charm.

Beautiful country over there. I just read a national geographic article abt the bison in Yellowstone & how all the bison in the US have been tested to have cattle DNA mixed in with them too, there's no pure strains left. But it'll still be awesome to see them. There was a reserve or park in Nebraska that had a herd in it. The bull I saw was humongous Burning on a windy day 🤔

Dusty, If Marissa will have it, get into the backcountry of Yellowstone. This is where the real awe of the park is. As a student of a Wildlife Biological Degree one research project we were lucky to complete was in Yellowstone. Most of our time is was spent documenting food, movement, health & social aspects of grey wolves, elk, bears, antelope and bison. You will most likely see bison & elk on the grand loop, but the backcountry is where the bear & wolves are. We witnessed wolves chasing and securing elk dinners, completed a post mortem on a huge brown bear, got stuck in bison traffic daily & many other critters I can’t remember! We were working so we didn’t spend a bunch of time around the thermal springs & geysers; except the time some of us got too drunk drinking sake a mayor visiting the US from Asia brought in a swimmable hot spring 😅; but they are worth a look. I believe the bison herd manager is onsite in the parks offices. He might be someone you can talk bison stuff with and make a networking contact with. Have a good time✌🏼
