Credit goes to Samuel Tubridy Here is the unlocking of the Merlady! Play as a character other than the Ocean characters. Then, go on a river. Go past the river, then go past the river again, but this time backwards. Then, finally die in the river by falling of the side of the log. Steeping on lilypads doesn't count. I hope this is works for you. I tried it on multiple devices, so I know this is correct.

Try lakes with only 2 spaces then hurry past them and back then go back forward one step jump off the log and Merlady will be your's

I somehow got Angler fish by accident and got merlady by accident . I got the merlady by looking for my hipster whale and i went past and back on a log which was on the river and accident went of and i got me merlady

I have the merlady. I jumped into the water with all kinds of characters. There were about 80 different, often multiple, often driven only on the raft.

Hey guys! I can confirm that you have to jump on the water with a variety of different characters. The character is merlady and I got it when i stopped at the Brazil category. Start from whatever category and keep going to next category. Hope this helped!

Ryan Reyes you do it with majority of characters you have. Of course this varies whether you have to do it with all of it or most of your characters. It really depends on how much you have.

i unlocked it and its a merlady, shes got dark skin and a red tail! im not sure how i unlocked her but i was playing as the puffin and fell into the river, and before that i was playing other characters and fell into the river with them too, so maybe thats how to unlock her?
