This is an interesting subject. I walk a lot because I live very close to the city center and in my street I have all shops to buy my food. So I do most things by foot. But I recently finished my recumbent trike and now I ride around my city and to other cities. The road surface makes how fast I ride and what roads I prefer to take. On a recumbent, you notice more how a road surface is and especially on a recumbent trike. You feel every bumb and the angle of the road, more than an upright bike. Also especially the older people go faster and faster thanks to the e-bikes. A smooth surface is important and I see in my city that they are updating old cycle roads to red asphalt. I have a question. It's sad I just discovered your channel and this episode. I heard recently that in the UK, the people on a roundabout need to give way for people entering it. That is the opposite from here. Is that with all roundabouts or only a few? I think with bottle banks that they also mean the waste bins next yo roads where you can trow in your bottles and cans in as you ride by.

I still have my recumbent bicicyle, i drove faster on it that I do now on my e-bike. A recumbent bicycle is very nice on empty roads, not so nice in city's. I had group of people also on recumbent bicycles, we drove every month a nice trip. I had a interview on the radio, was in the papers, was still a strange bicycle. I loved it.

@@leojonkers3181 I believe that. Recumbent ride great. I have a recumbent trike and building a second one that is almost ready to test ride. Still need to do a lot of work on it, but that is mainly bag mounts. On my first build I removed the e-assist and placed that on my upright. My new build will have e-assist and has a lot of things upgraded. Lower weight, rear suspension, adjustable seat, lower frame, better and lighter tires and wheels, better lights, indirect steering and way more bag mounts. Better for touring. Recumbents are great to ride. Sadly here not many people do that.

@@emiel1976ep Well, in The Netherlands also not many. While you sit nice, you do not catch wind so much (The reason why they go so fast). Wow, building a bicycle yourself, great respect! Touring is nice on a recumbent, I once took the train to Basel with recumbent and went back to Rotterdam, all along the Rein. 120 km a day. Nice weather, nice trip.
