Your rants are awesome, well justified and some of the main reasons I watch. Great video, really enjoy looking back and taking a candid look at these games and the hype that was around them then and now.

Just to be clear about Earth Under Siege, it is in final printing now and is should be finished by end of April and shipping out of China in May :)

As someone pretty new to the "hobby" [as in, collecting games, reading BGG, ordering off crowdfunding sites] I really love these vids, they're very helpful. I truly hope you do one for at least 3-5 years back for every single month! I also just really enjoy your vids, including your silly rants and the bloopers at the end :)

Earthborn Rangers looks incredibly boring to me. The visual aesthetic is the equivalent of Wonder bread packaging

I like the bright blue cover that looks like a photograph, but the green and brown cover looks like a children's watercolor painting!

Agreed. The game can be my jam mechanistically, but if I don’t love the art, I’ll never buy it. Ever. Gotta have both! It prolly saves me a lot of $ in the long-run 😆

Where is Age of Rome? It was on Kickstarter in March 2022 and was the one I chose at the time to back through everything listed. Regardless it's one of my favorites (and I can't be objective) but Teetotum is one of the most honest, first-time companies in fulfillment and support.

Hi Chris, I discovered your channel last January, and I think this is my first comment. I just want to start by saying, I love to hear about opinions, and opinions that evolved with time are even better. I've been a board gamer since childhood and I've been playing modern games since I discovered Catan in February 2004, and I've been playing more or less regularly since then. 2 to 4 times a week since 2018. I'm a bit of a collector, but I also keep only games that I still want to play. And, when I like a game, I want to play everything. So with the "Pandemic" issues, and working form home since March 2020. I have more money to spend, and too much time to follow KZbin Channel and other source of board game discussion. In 2019, I had a collection of around 160 games, I only had backed 3 KS projects and only one or two, Dungeon Crawl type games (Gloomhaven) and Zombicide, 1st edition (if you consider this a DC). I love both of these games. I had to stop and hope to restart Gloomhaven eventually and I played over 225 games of Zombicide. and still play it from time to time. So now, I own 275 games, over 25 DC, I backed around 80 crowdfunding campaign, still have about 25 to received, and I'm finally controlling this "addiction". So, all this rambling to give you a quick picture of my gamers evolution, before I comment and answer your questions. I love those "Where are they now" videos. And here are my comments, on the ones I played and/or interest me. - TM Ares: I only played the main game. I was hoping it would offer a longer Race for the Galaxy experience. It did, it felt so repetitive, I was starting to question why would I play this instead of TM... And let it go. I heard great things about the expansions, and would love to try them all, but I won't add this game to my collection again. - Jurassic Park: My girlfriend doesn't play that much, but she absolutely adores legacy games. And she really wanted me to get that game. But following the campaign together, we just couldn't get excited and decided to let it go. And today, we are totally happy about our decision. But waiting on Divinus impatiently. - Tamashii Chronicle: Only heard about it in the past couple of months, and would love to try it. I have no room or time to dig into this one, but could be a future purchase, when I sell a couple of games. Seems really interesting. Maybe a friend of mine will buy it and get me off the hook?? - Malhya - Land of Legend: I heard about it when the campaign was just coming to a close. I was working on my list of DC/campaign game I would like to eventually get... I don't know how different it is from other DC games, but I saw a couple of video about the gameplay: range and melee attack, scenario/story card system, monster "AI", and it really interested me. I can't wait to get it, although it will probably take 3 years before I start playing it. I'm just creating myself a new adventure group. And starting with smaller adventure/scenario game... We are getting there. But have plenty to dig into. The rest of the games you mention, I either have no interest or never heard of them. Can't wait to see your other Where are they now video. Nice discovering you. Watch you soon!

So for me I put a review on Bgg only when I finished the game. I have gotten many games, were they just sit on the shelf so they never get reviewed. Like out of these you mentioned I have Tamashii, but never got it to the table yet, because I am currently playing other big campaign games first. Friends in my game group, that are big board game fans like me, don't even watch board game you tube channels and don't care about Bgg. They buy the game based on looks, if it has a rule book on the page, and if its an already established Ip. They always constantly ask me about the campaign their going to back. Like I had to explain to them about how stretch goals really are, they all thought it was getting extra stuff. So my big conclusion is that many get the games but haven't gotten to play them yet, or don't even care about reviewing them on bgg when they do get them.

Great video! A couple of errors on Earth Under Siege: First, the setting is on Earth with the humans banding together to protect the planet, not in space. Secondly, the first campaign was launched with an auto-shipping amount accidently added in to every pledge so it was immediately canceled and relaunched just a couple of days later. It didn't fail- just a simple mistake from a first-time creator. I agree that the rulebook is large but playing the scenarios you're introduced to the rules slowly and carefully by the designer. I think Steve did an excellent job managing that and moving things along and adding more depth and strategy as you advance through the storyline. It's the nature of this type of game, I guess.

After backing The witcher Old world (sold right away), Mythic battles Ragnarok (unplayed) and Senjutsu (unplayed on sale) i think im cured backing games on Kickstarter. I might have been unlucky but it took forever to get these games and three years later I'm in a totally different spot in life. If i want sth i buy it in store and play it (Aeons End for 35€ split with a friend) and played twice two weeks later. Seeing the witcher old world in stores weeks before it arrived at my doorstep killed it for me. Almost everything good will come to retail, be cheaper and less bloated. No appeal to back anything left for me.

I agree with you about Tamashii. The campaign delivered while I was staying in the hospital long term with my son. I set the game up on the spare queen in the hotel room. This was one of my favorite games from last year, complete surprise of a wonderful time.

Backed Tamashii and Earth Under Seige. I have Tamashii, and I'm still waiting on Earth Under Seige. Tamashii is good. I don't have enough play time to determine where it will fall in my collection ranking but it has a permanent spot in my collection. Hopefully, that's how I will feel about Earth Under Seige. But it's the type of game I already love. Just a note, Earth Under Siege relaunched not because they failed to fund, but they discovered an error in the pledge amounts, that it was charging backers shipping on top of the pledge amounts and they could not fix it. So they decided to end the first campaign and relaunch the next day or two.

AE: Crisis makes solo better for me, but I’m glad I picked it up just recently and passed on the other two. Tamashii is great. The things you unlock are nice but don’t significantly change the play, so that doesn’t bother me. I love that it’s not a linear campaign - I am mostly over huge narrative campaigns because I never finish them.

I enjoy your rants a lot. Mostly though I just look at the number of games I haven't backed and haven't actually had any regrets. There have been a few I've picked up since they hit retail, had better support and more extensive player feed back before I bought in and have had no regrets buying after the fact. Crowd funding has lost it's charm.

Rant away buddy, someone needs to say what they believe, not what they are paid to say! As a side note I have backed Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron and I am hopeful it will 1. deliver within 12 months and 2. not disappoint with regards to production and game play. Fingers crossed.
