I have a friend from Peru who work with those heavy amps and he told me once that corrosion can be fix with special paint is like a coat clear coat to protect all that from rusting. Cause those amps are expose to all type of weather and due to the age those particular boards will go bad and crown doesn’t make those boards anymore and also are hard to find and there’s no tech around who wants to touch those amps also. I had 4 and sold all on a good time. Those are a great amps the only issue is too heavy.

Good info thanks. Would you consider doing a more detailed walkthrough/troubleshooting/repair about these amps? I have a stack of macrotechs, a couple need troubleshooting inc a 5000 and most of the videos in youtube arent in english

DJ Shaw, what chance of finding the amplifier module for this beast that doesn't have PCB rot?? salvage, auction? Otherwise, I may have to take a chance at restoring the circuit traces if the rot is not too extensive....This the first high power audio amp repair attempt and it would just suck if terminal. I'm a old recovering RF engineer trying to keep my mind. really appreciate the video and it quickly confirmed my diagnosis of this 5000vz working on for a customer. Grunc7e

Hi DJ Shaw. Happy New Year! I was just wondering.Are you familiar with the older Yorkville Elite 1000 cabinet speakers? I need to replace all four 15". Do you have any suggestions as to what I should replace them with.I'm not a Dj.I only use my speakers during family gatherings.I've been using a Kenwood Basic M2A home amplifier with bare wire ends to clip into the clamps in the back of the amp, in order to drive these speakers.This amp has no quarter inch plugs in the back.This has always bothered me.Could you also recommend a Chinese made amp? My cabinets are rated at 1000 watts each but that of course will change with your recommendation of speaker change.Thanks for reading!

Hey Happy new year to you too. I would go with some B&C tbx100 series i believe there used in some of yorkville cabinets now so should be a good fit and sound. Otherwise check out some RCF L15P400 15INCH these are also 👌. Thanks for and please share the knowledge. Oh yeah two great Chinese amplifiers right now are the CVR 3302 or the Admark K30 or K35 series. ✅️

you seem to have a lot of knowledge on these crown amps, so I wanted to ask a question. I have a crown macro tech 2400 that when powered on the green signal light on channel 2 stays on with or without a load. when playing music the sound is distorted? Thanks

@@christopherpowell3234 crown 3600 is still more powerful than 4050. Crown is 1100 watts @8 ohms and 4050 is 800watts @8 ohms. Plus the strength of the crown playing bass is like a truck pushing something vs a van if that helps. Thanks again
