You should turn that yellow hybrid isolator pin into the key for the Crown. A momento from its slow hybrid beginnings.
@PhilTheGeek Жыл бұрын
The shield is grounded so if the cable is cut it grounds out and blows the fuse. That way the high voltage cable gets isolated if it gets cut.

@@BennysCustomWorks If you ever want to weld a up hole, a chunk of brass plate works well. It will conduct electricity but won't bond to the weld so you don't turn a mig into a plasma cutter. Just use vice grips or a mate to hold it in place. I hit up the metal bin at my local scrap guys and it cost me $5 for two bits one, 2' X 4' and the other 4' by about 6' and they both have saved my ass more than once. A block of Ally can be handy too if you need a big heat sink for panel work, just don't overheat it.... Have you looked at the injectors Cleetus, Tom Bailey, and Steve Morris use, they seem to be sought and plenty?

It also helps stop electrical noise if it was a data cable.

as mentioned it's a rudimentary system for HV cable insulation resistance monitoring - current EVs open the contactors to isolate the vehicle side if a certain resistance threshold of the shielding is breached

You said you were wary of adding all the extra plumbing of a surge tank, but the area that the second battery lived seems like the perfect place to put one. Then you can retain the stock tank and all the wonders that entails like filling through the fuel door, all without cutting into your trunk (I mean boot) space.

Is it a coincidence the skid factory boys are building a 2JZ drag car at the same time? Feels like a BCW and TSF combined drag week waiting to happen. If it’s not already on the cards surely it needs to be discussed?

Feel free to fact-check this, but the different fuel smell could be due to the addition in Japan of MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether), which I believe is an oxidising agent (releases oxygen when burned). I think this has the effect of raising the octane rating, which could help explain why you can get some crazy high octane fuel out of the pump in Japan.

Seeing you have this thing for Japanese 4 door sedans, what about making a drag and drive Nissan 280C. My ex father-in-law had one and it used to amuse the crap out of me!. Perhaps an RB conversion?. It would be great to see the ol' boat tearing up the quarter mile.

Wouldn't you want the hole fuel pump in the front and not the back (if it has to be on the bottom sides) since the fuel pump pickup would be at the front of the tank if the mounting point was on the back?

How do you feel about the 2JZ mechanical pump kit from platinum racing products? PHR also has a mechanical kit, I’ve been looking at both kits for my SC 2J build. I’m not sure how streetable such kits are, there isn’t much info on the internet. Both kits use the stock fuel pump and tank. And big cables like that are shielded because they’ll interfere with radio/wireless signals if they aren’t, high voltage cables (spark plug wires), are shielded for the same reasons.

I'm quite surprised you like the Siemens Deka injectors. Everybody I know just hates them as they have almost no fuel atomisation, they just spray a stream of fuel rather then fine mist, which makes tuning of such an engine way more difficult than the same engine equipped with let say Bosch EV14.
