What about human rights over the cruel punishments of Shariah Law? I am currently doing research on the ancient Demonology Theory of Crime, possession by a demons, jinn and the cruel punishments used to cast out the demons and to deter others from committing them. Of course Christianity had hand in this too in the past. Many of our ( I'm a US citizen but speaking generally, we used to do terrible things to people, especially in sanitariums) laws in the 15th 16th century stem from ancient theory of Demonology--that individuals only committed crimes when they were possessed by the devil, demons, etc. I am trying to determine if some of the punishments of Shariah Law derived from this belief that people who commit certain crimes do so because they were possessed. Well, today we have Psychology. Sigmund Freud may be the most popular Psychologists in US history but your country Iran has us beat- a rich history of Psychology going back to the 9th century-when certain forms of CBT (Cognitive behavior therapy) were being used at that time. Buddha once said that he heard someone playing a lute in a boat as it went by-and he told his followers--if the strings are too tight they will break, and if they are too loose, it won't play, so he formed the 'middle' path, less extreme than some of the other forms of Hinduism. Having too few human rights are too constraining, oppressive, and too many freedoms create chaos, greed, no boundaries. How would you feel about a more Democratic (not westernized version) but a new Constitution based on Human Rights, equality for men and women, and abolish some of the more drastic forms of punishment. I'm not even for the death penalty and am for rehabilitation because I see criminal acts as a psychological symptom that can be corrected.

As a US Citizen, I assure you, I do not want to support the brutal current Iranian regime. I almost started crying when I heard about the woman who got 72 lashes for protesting and not wearing her hijab. But your government is Shia, as are most Iranians, which means that an Imam is chosen by the Iranian Assembly of Experts, not voted on by Iranian Citizens. And only they can dismiss Ayatollah Khomeini. The Supreme Leader is not like other Islamic leaders. He is an Imam-a Twelver, claimed to be a descendant of Muhammad and this Iranian kind of system is non-negotiable. Politically- the Iranian government only allows their citizens a combined 11/100 Political Rights and Civil Liberties--and are ranked in the world as a Not-Free Country- and I want this to change for you. Thanks for this thoughtful interview: so good to hear. I can answer the question of the true motivation for Iran's drone and missile attack: it was the promised retaliation for Israel's terrorist attack on Iran's embassy compound in Damascus (By the Vienna Convention, embassies are considered as the soil of that country). Iran gave plenty of warning to Israel, the US and UK, so that they could shoot down most of the drones and missiles, and it was planned not to cause any casualties (despite the Israelis having deliberately killed a bunch of Iranians). Iran also said this represented the end of the matter, so no escalation or provocation of war ie merely served as a severe warning. I'm totally opposed to the Islamic regime, but this is just for the balance truth. We know how abusive the Russian and Iranian regimes are, and Israel (who bomb Syria at will) and the US are (shockingly!) as bad, often far worse. We should all be connecting, peoples across the world, so that the manipulators in each security state cannot feed each other's hold on power via endless cycle of wars and fears.
